I was falsely charged with a serious sex offense. It was a he-said/she-said situation. I made the mistake of talking to the police without a lawyer thinking they wanted to get to the truth of the matter. Instead, they had already made up their mind that I was guilty and only wanted to make the “facts...” fit their story. After being arrested, I hired a lawyer that had been recommended to me, but after six months he just wanted me to accept a terrible plea deal, saying that was the best I could expect.
