I retained Mr Cohen when I was falsely accused of a crime by my ex-spouse. It was further complicated when the police really didn't want to deal with the matter but turned it over to a county agency for further investigation and handling. I called Doug Cohen when Douglas County DHS opened a D&N and took my children out of a safe and loving home. Doug aggressively used my documentation and evidence to ensure that I was not steam rolled by DHS in advocating for my children. DHS returned custody and Doug swiftly handled an appeal with the state to get everything removed from my record, without ever having to go to trial. Doug continued to represent me in my divorce case, which we had to transfer from WY to CO, which could have been a nightmare, but Doug made a smooth and easy process for me. By the end of the divorce, not only did I have majority parenting time and full decision making, but I was approved to move out of Colorado with my children. My ex-spouse was ordered to pay a significant amount of monthly child support, and a six figure judgment was entered against them for the property they previously liquidated without my consent. So to recap: Doug entered my case when I had ZERO CUSTODY of my children and a brand new CPS case. He closed my divorce case as I moved OUT OF COLORADO with my children, with FULL CUSTODY, a six figure judgment against my ex-spouse, and a large monthly child support order. Most importantly, Doug helped end a four year battle, with my children and I coming out the other side in one piece. Doug was the 4th attorney I hired in 1.5 years, and the only attorney for the job! Doug's paralegal Bonnie is meticulous, detail oriented, prompt, professional, and compassionate.
