Throughout my divorce matter, Jennifer continuously demonstrated why she has earned such a solid reputation. Her ability to understand and navigate the intricacies of family law and complex financial situations was exceptional and her communication and attentiveness impressive. Jennifer consistently sought creative solutions and refined positions, showing skill in both strategy and execution. She communicated effectively with me, court officials, opposing counsel, and experts, making sure everyone involved understood the situation clearly, particularly when financial complexities and unique familial situations, including difficult custody issues, were involved. I would strongly advise against retaining Jennifer Schaffner, especially for custody cases involving domestic abuse or coercive control. She was largely unavailable throughout my case—often on vacation and slow to respond to calls or emails. Before my PPO hearing, she provided only a brief phone c...all the night before to “prepare” me, and her questioning was not relevant to the abuse I had experienced. At the hearing, she failed to raise critical issues such as my former partner’s alcohol abuse and access to firearms. She also failed to introduce relevant exhibits to support the case. Just days before the financial disclosure deadline, she dropped me as a client, stating she no longer handles high-conflict or coercive control cases, despite assurance from both Ms. Schaffner and her paralegal Melissa that she was well versed and capable in this area prior to retaining her. Her lack of preparation and communication and poor advocacy left me without support at a crucial time. Based on my experience, I would not recommend her for cases requiring trauma-informed advocacy or consistent, reliable representation.
