I obtained Mr. Mattersdorff services to create my will and other personal legal documentation. I found him to be very knowledgeable and understanding. He often went out of his way to obtain information when I mentioned how I wanted to establish essential details concerning legal documentation. He is ...also very prompt and meticulously detailed. I would highly recommend him.

Is apartment deposit

If you are having problems with you are your apartment in receiving, Any part of your deposit. I.E. You left the apartment in good condition. Or happened to be a tenant in any cough *Tropicana properties* cough. This man will get your deposit back in FULL!! He is extremely professional and by the... book it was a pleasure working with him. He made the process extremely easy. Also he made it very understandable for someone who doesn't understand law. Any future problems I well definitely be giving him a call.

This lawyer did a very good job. Would recommend.

I hired Richard Mattersdorff to take care of a probate and later for the sale of a property, both within one year. He did a very good job. Prompt, attentive and professional. We have and will continue to recommend him. Patricia

Elderly abuse

Mr. Mattersdorff is a wonderful attorney! Not only is he very knowledgeable but is also very compassionate and a good listener. His fees are also very reasonable. My 94 year old aunt was being mentally and physically abused in her own home by a close family member who was living there..supposedly... to take care of her. This abusive family member refused to leave the premises. After explaining the situation to Mr. Mattersdorff..he started the eviction process right away in order to remove the abusive family member from my aunt’s home. I cannot say enough good things about Mr. Mattersdorff..having him represent me gave me great peace of mind. I am extremely grateful to have found him.

Bad experience

Richard was referred to us by the someone at the El Paso Bar Association. He was friendly, but once I wrote that check out, his attitude quickly changed. Nothing, other than him going to clinic a couple times, was done to help my brother in law. My brother in law was released from the clinic Thursday... and he called the next day with good news, that they were going to be letting him out of the clinic. He had already been released and not for anything he had done, rather our persistence and pressure with the clinic was what got my brother in law released. I should have gone with my instinct and kept looking when he said he charged a flat fee.

In general I can say: when a non-client wants to find and pay for legal representation for someone else, the lawyer has to do the following: 1. Contact the potential client to make sure the client wants to be represented by the attorney. It is the potential client's decision. Always. 2. Obtain potential client's permission to accept money from a third party for the representation. That is the client's decision. Always. 3. Make sure both client and the person paying understand that the client is the client. The person paying does not get special access to the client's information or the attorney's communications with the client. The person paying does not get any control over the attorney's representation of the client.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
