Bad experience
Richard was referred to us by the someone at the El Paso Bar Association. He was friendly, but once I wrote that check out, his attitude quickly changed. Nothing, other than him going to clinic a couple times, was done to help my brother in law. My brother in law was released from the clinic Thursday...

Replied last September 05, 2021In general I can say: when a non-client wants to find and pay for legal representation for someone else, the lawyer has to do the following: 1. Contact the potential client to make sure the client wants to be represented by the attorney. It is the potential client's decision. Always. 2. Obtain potential client's permission to accept money from a third party for the representation. That is the client's decision. Always. 3. Make sure both client and the person paying understand that the client is the client. The person paying does not get special access to the client's information or the attorney's communications with the client. The person paying does not get any control over the attorney's representation of the client.

Non responsive
Referred by the bar association and was eager to accept the fee via money order. Said he would take my case but would not respond to phone calls, email, or text messages. He was supposed to be representing me but has not filed anything for me it done anything to help.

Replied last September 05, 2021I am not your attorney. I do not represent you. I am not "supposed" to represent you. I never said I would take your case. You kind-of suggest you sent me money; you did not. Step 1 would have been a consult with me through the Bar Association program you mention (fee: $20). I do generally accept payments by check, money order, cash, or Zelle.
