Custody

The worst attorney in El Paso. I paid her over $45,000 and I'm in worst situation than when I hired her. She took my case to a jury trial based on a lie. She told me the opposing attorney requested the jury trial later found out it was her. She brought her associate attorney Corey Sainz to the jury t...rial without my consent and tried to charge me for her time. Found out from her paralegal that if she would have collected from me Kristina would have given her a bonus. Totally unacceptable. She was never prepared, lack of communication, could not interpret the orders. There was suppose to be an entry of judgement since October 2016 and til now it has not and she could not even tell me how much child support I had to pay. I went from having more visitation than the standard order without child support to less than what the state of Texas requires to paying child support and paying this incompetent person over $45,000.

Do not waste your money

I hired this woman to deal with a custody case, I paid for the consultation upfront since that was the most important thing before talking to her. I explained everything to her and did not leave anything out, my situation started in another state but my children are in El Paso, TX. I sent her every s...ingle piece of paperwork that I had from my previous attorneys. Needless to say Kristina spoke to one of them, which later I found out this particular attorney has mental issues. She didn't even reviewed all the emails that I sent her because if she did, she would have found the documents containing the information that she accused me of not telling her. Yet, she charged me $900.00 for doing NOTHING. Her behavior was completely unacceptable and she took no reponsobility for not paying attention to what I sent and told her. She told me what could be done, I am not an attorney and don't know what could be done in order to start the process in Texas. Yet she accused me of saying what she told me during the consultation. SHe might have done a great job for some people but for me she is a poor excuse of an attorney that tells clients what she can do and later accuses you of making up allegations on your case without even looking at all the evidence.

Talks a Good Game but Fails to Get Results

In my experience, Ms. Legan is a knowledgeable attorney but does not effectively deliver results, and has flaky communication habits. Prior to my initial hearing, she did a fair job of keeping me informed about the status of my case, and how she intended to represent my side. During the initial hea...ring, she did a great job, and we won most of what I was hoping for in the form of temporary orders. However, when it came time for the actual hearing, we lost on all fronts. To be fair, this might have been simply because the El Paso court system is grossly biased toward women, or that the judge we had was very new to the bench. That said, since the hearing, she has dragged her feet in completing the necessary followup paperwork and takes several weeks to return my calls. She has been largely unresponsive. Her office consistently tells me she is busy and will return my calls, but I never hear back. I get the impression she has too many cases on her plate. Overall, despite my initially positive impressions, I would recommend to others to seek council elsewhere.

Great

Kristina was an amazing help! She knew exactly what she was doing. She kept me informed with everything, especially with me living in a different state.

Remarkable Person

Bright, hardworking, extremely competent, honest, sincere, strong, caring, accessible - these are just a few of the more significant adjectives I would use to describe my experience working with Ms. Voorhies Legan. My case was very complex, with strong international content, and very long and difficu...lt, with every aspect of my divorce hotly contested all the way to a jury trial. Ms. Voorhies Legan never made promises, was always clear with me as to potential outcomes, yet managed to always exceed my own hopes and expectations. And she was always there for me, providing calming advice, as rode the "emotional roller-coaster" so common in a divorce. Professionally, three characteristics stood out the most for me. First, she is truly an expert on Family Code. Throughout my case, I was amazed at how many arguments she defended and won based on her knowledge of Family Code, and at how she was able to properly steer and keep our case on track based on Family Code. Second, her fact retention. I don't believe I have ever met a person, in law or otherwise, who could remember facts or events in such detail and precision. And third, she truly loves and is deeply engaged with her profession. But what impressed me more than anything about Ms. Voorhies Legan, is that she is truly about the children. She is a strong advocate that two good parents should remain strong in the lives of the children, and works hard to assure that the children get the best possible result, based on on the circumstances of the case. I am so happy that I chose Kristina Voorhies Legan as my attorney. I would definitely make the same choice again, and would highly recommend her to anyone that asks.
