Thank You John

In the spring of 2017, I was facing some harassment and discrimination from my employer. I asked a friend of mine if she could recommend a good plaintiff’s attorney. Without hesitation she recommended John Wenke saying he was the best in El Paso if not the country. I made an appointment to consult... with him and hired him immediately signing a retainer agreement on the spot! There is a tendency to see think of Plaintiff's lawyers like the "TV Lawyers" who are always "fighting for you." In most cases their tough guy braggadocio is over the top while it simultaneously struggles to keep pace with the attorney's ego. In my 30 years in HR I have had Plaintiff's lawyers who come across this way who then cut and run after discovery. But as I began working with John, I was pleased to discover that he is nothing like that. No ego; no braggadocio; no cutting and running; John just wins cases. Soft spoken with extremely focused and attentive blue eyes, John assembles and analyzes the facts very carefully, taking abbreviated but careful notes on his legal pad as he begins to frame your case in his mind. I remember he would ask me questions that I thought were totally out of left field and I would think: “What the ….?” But as I learned, they were not. Instead, as I would listen and watch him connect the dots, they were indicative of his vast intellect and legal acuity at work. It was a little tricky at first, but I learned to listen carefully, follow his lead and to trust him. Like the landlord in Godfather II who evicts Senora Corleone's friend because of her dog, many HR people, organization leaders and their attorneys underestimate John's considerable ability the same way the Landlord failed to take account of Don Corleone. Of course, John is not the head of a crime family but if you go to his web site and look at the cases he's won or settled to his client's benefit, it tends to put the analogy to the proof. Consider: a $30M jury verdict for Worker's Comp retaliation; an age discrimination jury verdict of over $10M; breach of employment arbitration award of $268K and the list goes on and on. And not only that but the awards and recognition he's received as a lawyer are extraordinary and speak to his remarkable ability. As the Sultan of Morocco said of General Patton: "Les Lions dans leurs tanieres tremblent en la voyant approcher!" The same can be said of any defense employer law firm facing John. If you have been wronged by an employer the way I was, you will get justice if John represents you. I certainly did. I would and do highly recommend him and am pleased to give him the highest rating available on this site. Tim
