I initially found Carlos through this site. I read through many of his client reviews that told a story similar to mine: bad advice from a previous attorney, resulting in their having signed an unfair/burdensome possession order. I scheduled my consultation, hoping that he could get me the just and f...air shared custody I wanted. I was pleased by his straightforward manner, and that he had a casual, but professional demeanor. Do not let his casual vibe fool you. Carlos is a bulldog on your side. He understands the emotional and psychological toll family law proceedings take on you. He will counsel you when to take a strong stand, and when to hang back and let the other side hang themselves with their own actions. Do you have a narcissist ex-partner who is seemingly dedicated to making your life as difficult as possible, even if it causes suffering for your child/ren? Carlos is your best defense - both shield and sword. He knows the law and its applications, as well as what family law judges do and do not want to hear/see. He is motivated by a desire for justice, fighting for those who feel powerless or taken advantage of. Finally - and this was important to me as a single mom receiving no child support - his rates are reasonable. He is very invested in making sure you get the best representation for your money. If this is all new and overwhelming to you, you couldn't ask for a better guide on when and how to spend the funds in your retainer. This is crucial in cases that can drag out for months due to hearings on motions, negotiations on agreements, and mediation. Family court sucks. Carlos helped me file for divorce in August of 2014 after learning my husband (living abroad and a non-US citizen) was having an affair with two different women, and that after years of physical abuse. It was important I secure a divorce that protected mine and the children's rights and ensured thei...r safety. Needless to say, it was an extremely stressful period and the family courts recommended I contact Carlos because he was experienced in both domestic violence and international custody cases. Carlos was wonderful because he exuded a confidence and knowledge base that put me at ease. He also was always available to talk to me directly when I was in need of advice. Because he did such a great job with my custody agreement, I hadn't needed to consult him until now, when my ex-husband was in town and threatening to try to lower his monthly child support amounts.
