Betsy Jane Johnson

Betsy J. Johnson is a member of Grable Martin PLLC’s Eminent Domain and Real Estate Litigation Practice. She represents property owners and businesses in matters involving eminent domain, condemnation, right-of-way acquisitions, easements, inverse-condemnation claims, and related real estate disputes.

When a governmental entity, transportation authority, utility provider, or other entity with asserted condemnation authority seeks to acquire or affect private property, she assists clients in evaluating the proposed acquisition, its effect on the property, and the compensation offered. She also advises clients concerning property access, easements, negotiations, condemnation procedures, and related litigation.

Her representation begins with understanding the property, the proposed project, and the client’s objectives. Depending on the matter, her work may include reviewing acquisition documents and appraisals, evaluating the effect of a proposed taking, coordinating with appraisers, engineers, surveyors, and other professionals, negotiating with the acquiring entity, participating in condemnation proceedings, or pursuing appropriate remedies in court.

She also handles real estate disputes involving property rights, access, easements, land use, and related issues. She provides practical advice tailored to the facts of the property and the circumstances of each proceeding.
