Terrible

I have been a client since May 2019 and am still currently a client of Penny Haye, she is absolutely terrible! She does not communicate in a timely manner, she does not return phone calls, she does not return emails, she will take your money and try to get you to make deals rather than for her to fi...ght for what YOU want as her client, she does not apologize, she deflects, and will try to get you off of her caseload if you report her unprofessional and unethical actions as a State of Texas Attorney. I read a negative review before selecting her, I knew she wouldnt be any more perfect than any other attorney, and understood that what one person may experience would not necessarily be your experience. Unfortunately, my experience with Penny Haye has been less than professional. On various occasions she has waited almost 1 week to reply to 1 email up to and including 30 calendar days for another. I had to report her the Chief Disciplinary Counsel of Texas via the State Bar of Texas because she was not responding to my emails or phone calls. Since I have reported her, she has been responding, but now she wants me to sign a motion to withdraw because she has failed to communicate in a timely manner, now on record, without giving me my money back. I told her that I will NOT sign her motion to withdraw and that she will give me the service that I paid for, that she would expect to receive as a client anywhere else, and service rendered according to the oath she took with the State of Texas. Im now waiting on her action plan for my case. She works for you, you dont work for her.

We extend our most sincere apologies about your experience. We’re normally known for our personal service, even with one attorney and a busy case docket. We always let our clients know, from the beginning of their case, that much (if not most) of our communications will be in writing (email or text), especially for our family law cases which can be emotional. Understanding a client's expectations is important to us and, in retrospect, it seems that we were not on the same page about the frequency and method of communications. In our attempts to keep your legal costs down by only updating you when there was something significant to report, it gave the wrong impression that we did not care about you or your case. We are sorry for that and misunderstanding your needs. We do appreciate your comments and constructive criticism to show us how we can improve. If there is anything else you feel we can do to further address your specific concerns and come to a resolution, please contact us directly.

Bad customer Service

I had a phone interview with her. She sounded good and after talking to other lawyers, I liked her ideas. This was for a child modification case after CPS was involved. Almost a month, nothing was started. She was not answering emails in a timely matter. I was told she would call on a Friday and she ...emailed saying due to traffic and meetings. Later that following week, still nothing. At this point, I told her I no longer wanted her service and she said she would mail my refund and invoice. Over a week later still no check. She said she mailed it and she said she stopped payment and would refund through the card I paid her. In my opinion, she is not trustworthy and does not seem to care about customer service.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
