Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2010, James W. Evans or “Jimmy”, has been in practice for 16 years. Mr. Evans is also a lifetime member of the Texas Academy of Family Law, a Lifetime Member of the Texas Family Law Foundation. Mr. Evans is a member of the Family Section of the Travis County Bar and the State Bar of Texas and has been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of . Evans graduated law school at Texas Wesleyan University in just over 2 ½ years in 1994.

After becoming licensed in May 1995, worked as an assistant criminal district attorney with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. During this time, Mr. Evans prosecuted such crimes as domestic violence, protective orders, family violence, sex crimes against children, and other felony and misdemeanor crimes for nearly 5 years. During this time, Mr. Evans spent significant time working with children and protecting them against the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Evans was nicknamed “scrapper” for his scrappy litigation style. Thereafter, Mr. Evans worked in commercial litigation with a private firm until becoming a father 6 years ago. Since that time, Mr. Evans focused his practice exclusively in the area of family law.

During Mr. Evans’ 18 years of practice, he has obtained extensive court room experience and has over 100 jury trials to his credit. Mr. Evans has successfully mediated many cases and is trained in collaborative law.

In 2010, Mr. Evans completed the requirements and has been recognized by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and was honored to become board certified in Family Law.

Knowledgable, Professional, and Ethical

Jimmy has an encyclopedic knowledge of the law based, extensive experience with a wide range of cases, and as a result is someone I could completely trust to know what he was doing. He was always willing to explain why certain issues that were under dispute were/were not likely to be upheld by a jud...ge and gave me a very honest sense of what to expect before a judge, with respect to anything I asked him. He took the time to talk to me and answer questions, and was an ethical advocate who was clearly seeking the best outcome for the children. Rarely do I post reviews, but I chose him based on ones I read by people equally unfamiliar and scared by family law, divorce, and custody as I was; and he was a gem in guiding us through a difficult time. I'm so grateful to have found him, and recommend him as one of the most ethical and professional people I've ever worked with.

Highly recommended.

Highly recommended. Jimmy Evans, and specifically Jacob Dannen and Ashley Szymonek, guided me through the legal and often emotional waters of a very contentious and unique separation, divorce and custody case with patience, expertise, and wisdom. I appreciated their consistent availability to answer ...questions, talk through options, concerns, or worries. They did a great job of keeping my eyes on the next step and not 20 steps ahead, knowing that each step has its own implications, outcomes, and options, but always addressing my concerns. They knew when to guide me to be flexible and when to hold, and I did well to follow their guidance. I will use them again, should the need arise.

Best lawyer for agreed divorces

Jimmy Evans took my case at a fraction of the retainer required by most divorce lawyers, considering my ex and I owned a house and have kids. He's able to do so because he also specializes in agreed divorces. My ex and I had already agreed on how to separate and wanted a financially optimal way to ta...ke care of business without learning Texas family law. We're very happy to have found Jimmy's office!

Jimmy and his team are amazing. The depth of experience and ability to advise on my divorce was incredible. It became very clear to me that they work very hard at what they do. The most amazing thing that I continued to notice was how Jimmy could see far down the road and predict what was going to ha...ppen based on the TX legal system in conjunction with the personalities of opposing counsel. This was impressive and these are the qualities you want in an attorney that you hire to represent you. Surprises are the most difficult thing when you are going through tough times like this, and Evans Family Law Group does their best to set proper expectations and ease the anxiety of their clients. Default Divorce Agreement

Jimmy Evans and his team worked hard to find a solution for my complex divorce situation. Evans Family Law Group worked hard and got a default agreement finalized with my spouse agreeing in the end. "I endorse this lawyer without equivocation. Jimmy has many qualities that distinguish him as a fine family law/divorce attorney. That being said, three jump to mind immediately. First, Jimmy is a man of his word. In a field that is often, by its nature, rife with anxiety, fear, and frustration, being able to trust another attorney's word has a tremendous impact on a client's ability to manage their emotions, the attorney' ability to remain focused on the legal issues, and finally, the overall cost of the suit. Secondly, Jimmy is reasonable, ever conducting "cost benefit analyses" of courses of action in suit and whether those courses of action lead to the best results with the least damage. And finally, Jimmy isn't afraid of a fight.
