Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2010, James W. Evans or “Jimmy”, has been in practice for 16 years. Mr. Evans is also a lifetime member of the Texas Academy of Family Law, a Lifetime Member of the Texas Family Law Foundation. Mr. Evans is a member of the Family Section of the Travis County Bar and the State Bar of Texas and has been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of . Evans graduated law school at Texas Wesleyan University in just over 2 ½ years in 1994.

After becoming licensed in May 1995, worked as an assistant criminal district attorney with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. During this time, Mr. Evans prosecuted such crimes as domestic violence, protective orders, family violence, sex crimes against children, and other felony and misdemeanor crimes for nearly 5 years. During this time, Mr. Evans spent significant time working with children and protecting them against the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Evans was nicknamed “scrapper” for his scrappy litigation style. Thereafter, Mr. Evans worked in commercial litigation with a private firm until becoming a father 6 years ago. Since that time, Mr. Evans focused his practice exclusively in the area of family law.

During Mr. Evans’ 18 years of practice, he has obtained extensive court room experience and has over 100 jury trials to his credit. Mr. Evans has successfully mediated many cases and is trained in collaborative law.

In 2010, Mr. Evans completed the requirements and has been recognized by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and was honored to become board certified in Family Law.

Professional, painless experience

Jimmy offered a thorough intake process that made the rest of the divorce process smooth and easy. The office took care of everything every step of the way. The experience would have been even better with some more expectations set along the way, I never knew if I was following up too quickly, and ...since I am a neophyte in this area, I had no other experience to rely upon.

Great attorneys!

I’ve used Evans Family Law Group twice and I can tell you both times the outcome exceeded my expectations. Jimmy listen and understood my case but also set clear expectations from the beginning. Divorces are very hard but Jimmy always made sure I had all the information to make the best decision for ...my family. His professionalism, honesty and knowledge of the law, makes Jimmy a great attorney. Second time around I worked with Avery Rios she was amazing so kind and did a great job at mediation that we didn’t need to go to court. I highly recommend both attorneys.

Great divorce attorney

I initially had a free consultation with Mr. Evans and after a thorough conversation, I felt he was the best person to handle my case. He took the time to listen to my concerns regarding child custody and separating assets. Giving sound advice on subjects I was unfamiliar with. First, Jimmy is a man of his word. In a field that is often, by its nature, rife with anxiety, fear, and frustration, being able to trust another attorney's word has a tremendous impact on a client's ability to manage their emotions, the attorney' ability to remain focused on the legal issues, and finally, the overall cost of the suit.
