Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2010, James W. Evans or “Jimmy”, has been in practice for 16 years. Mr. Evans is also a lifetime member of the Texas Academy of Family Law, a Lifetime Member of the Texas Family Law Foundation. Mr. Evans is a member of the Family Section of the Travis County Bar and the State Bar of Texas and has been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of . Evans graduated law school at Texas Wesleyan University in just over 2 ½ years in 1994.

After becoming licensed in May 1995, worked as an assistant criminal district attorney with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. During this time, Mr. Evans prosecuted such crimes as domestic violence, protective orders, family violence, sex crimes against children, and other felony and misdemeanor crimes for nearly 5 years. During this time, Mr. Evans spent significant time working with children and protecting them against the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Evans was nicknamed “scrapper” for his scrappy litigation style. Thereafter, Mr. Evans worked in commercial litigation with a private firm until becoming a father 6 years ago. Since that time, Mr. Evans focused his practice exclusively in the area of family law.

During Mr. Evans’ 18 years of practice, he has obtained extensive court room experience and has over 100 jury trials to his credit. Mr. Evans has successfully mediated many cases and is trained in collaborative law.

In 2010, Mr. Evans completed the requirements and has been recognized by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and was honored to become board certified in Family Law.

Great assistance completing divorce during a period of uncertainty

I contacted the Evans Family Law Group to assist with filing a divorce in Austin. At the time, both the ex-wife and myself were living abroad. To add to our complications, COVID-19 restrictions prevented either of us from traveling to Austin to consult in-person or attend the court proceedings. Mr. ...Evans and his team were able to work through our difference in time zones and COVID restrictions to facilitate a painless and smooth filing of paperwork and completion of the divorce. 100% would recommend to anyone in need of legal assistance.

Super easy to work with during a very difficult time.

I met with Jimmy right before the pandemic hit. Even though me and my wife at the time had everything settled, I felt like I needed someone experienced and relatable to help get me through this time. Jimmy was great to talk to, and extremely resourceful. Soon everything became inaccessible In the sta...ndard pathways because of the social distancing. This did not interfere with my process, Jimmy was able to negotiate and accomplish my divorce very smoothly and have it all ready to go to the judge by the time my waiting period Expired. Jimmy, and his entire team were amazing. He even has his cell phone available for his clients if he needs to be reached during off peak hours. I appreciate all the assistance, great experience.

First, Jimmy is a man of his word. In a field that is often, by its nature, rife with anxiety, fear, and frustration, being able to trust another attorney's word has a tremendous impact on a client's ability to manage their emotions, the attorney' ability to remain focused on the legal issues, and finally, the overall cost of the suit.
