Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2010, James W. Evans or “Jimmy”, has been in practice for 16 years. Mr. Evans is also a lifetime member of the Texas Academy of Family Law, a Lifetime Member of the Texas Family Law Foundation. Mr. Evans is a member of the Family Section of the Travis County Bar and the State Bar of Texas and has been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of . Evans graduated law school at Texas Wesleyan University in just over 2 ½ years in 1994.

After becoming licensed in May 1995, worked as an assistant criminal district attorney with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. During this time, Mr. Evans prosecuted such crimes as domestic violence, protective orders, family violence, sex crimes against children, and other felony and misdemeanor crimes for nearly 5 years. During this time, Mr. Evans spent significant time working with children and protecting them against the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Evans was nicknamed “scrapper” for his scrappy litigation style. Thereafter, Mr. Evans worked in commercial litigation with a private firm until becoming a father 6 years ago. Since that time, Mr. Evans focused his practice exclusively in the area of family law.

During Mr. Evans’ 18 years of practice, he has obtained extensive court room experience and has over 100 jury trials to his credit. Mr. Evans has successfully mediated many cases and is trained in collaborative law.

In 2010, Mr. Evans completed the requirements and has been recognized by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and was honored to become board certified in Family Law.

Highly Recommend Evans Law Firm! Custody Modification Case

I highly recommend Jimmy Evans & his legal team for family legal matters. Mr. Evan's was honest and realistic with me and my outcome with a custody modification. He took the time to explain my options to me and presented me with a realistic approach to getting the safeguards in place for my children.... Mr. Evan's represented me in mediation and was outstanding. Although my case did not settle in mediation, we were able to get an agreement ahead of trail that I was extremely happy with. Evan's Law Firm is the best in town and I highly recommend him. He is a wonderful attorney.

Great advice and services, always focused on the goal

I was very pleased with my experience when represented by Mr. Evans, and in working with his team at Evans Family Law Group to complete my divorce. The level of care and concern shown to all parties involved in the process was exceptional, as was the level of expertise shared with me as a client. Thi...s case was complicated by a number factors from the beginning, and we dealt with some unexpected events along the way, but the Evans Family Law Group rose to every challenge presented, going above and beyond time and again to help me reach my goals. Communication was open, honest, timely, and professional throughout, which is very important to me as well. The work was done in the most efficient way possible, and always with an appropriate sense of urgency. I would highly recommend the firm to anyone needing legal assistance of this kind.

Fantastic Lawyer - Highly recommend

Jimmy is a great lawyer. He helped me through my divorce case where we were facing a upset spouse. He counselled me very well and he showed that he really cared about my child's well being. He went above and beyond just giving legal advice. He also made sure that I understood all the future ramificat...ions of current divorce decisions. Even where I had made some mistakes, he was able to correct them. I recommend him highly.

A Compassionate Process

Our intention was to divorce with as little trauma as possible and salvage the dignity of our family for our son's sake. As a couple we worked through negotiating our settlement and agreements as much as we could ourselves. As my attorney, Jimmy pointed out issues that we had not considered, clarifie...d others, and was compassionate when we decided against specific common practices that may not have been aligned with our family values. Jimmy was extremely knowledgeable, educational and mindful throughout our divorce process. We are so grateful to him as well as Julio and Dina for helping us to move forward with integrity and respect for each other intact.

Amazing!

I hired Jimmy Evans nearly 5 years ago, and still to this day he represents me and my family. He is very intelligent and knows his facts. He has always tried his hardest to make things so easy on me during these tough times while representing me in the best ways he can. He goes above and beyond to me...et my needs and get all the facts. He fights hard for what he believes and doesn't beat around the bush. I've had some very emotionally situations with my family and he communicates very well and understand from every aspect. Not to mention the family based law firm and great staff he has. I have recommended several people to him and will continue to. He always makes himself available and I can always count on him, even through my silly short questions. First, Jimmy is a man of his word. In a field that is often, by its nature, rife with anxiety, fear, and frustration, being able to trust another attorney's word has a tremendous impact on a client's ability to manage their emotions, the attorney' ability to remain focused on the legal issues, and finally, the overall cost of the suit. Secondly, Jimmy is reasonable, ever conducting "cost benefit analyses" of courses of action in suit and whether those courses of action lead to the best results with the least damage.
