Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2010, James W. Evans or “Jimmy”, has been in practice for 16 years. Mr. Evans is also a lifetime member of the Texas Academy of Family Law, a Lifetime Member of the Texas Family Law Foundation. Mr. Evans is a member of the Family Section of the Travis County Bar and the State Bar of Texas and has been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of . Evans graduated law school at Texas Wesleyan University in just over 2 ½ years in 1994.

After becoming licensed in May 1995, worked as an assistant criminal district attorney with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. During this time, Mr. Evans prosecuted such crimes as domestic violence, protective orders, family violence, sex crimes against children, and other felony and misdemeanor crimes for nearly 5 years. During this time, Mr. Evans spent significant time working with children and protecting them against the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Evans was nicknamed “scrapper” for his scrappy litigation style. Thereafter, Mr. Evans worked in commercial litigation with a private firm until becoming a father 6 years ago. Since that time, Mr. Evans focused his practice exclusively in the area of family law.

During Mr. Evans’ 18 years of practice, he has obtained extensive court room experience and has over 100 jury trials to his credit. Mr. Evans has successfully mediated many cases and is trained in collaborative law.

In 2010, Mr. Evans completed the requirements and has been recognized by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and was honored to become board certified in Family Law.

I was taking to court by the father of my child completely out of the blue, he was fighting for primary conservatorship. As, you know being a mother my emotions were everywhere. Effective, Collaborative, and Precise

The Evans Family Law Firms played a crucial role in my life transition from family man to a single father. They provided me with a game plan to help me achieve my goals. And this is to be expected of any family law attorney. Still, it was the graciousness, authenticity, and honesty with which he prov...ided counsel and representation that set Mr. Evans apart. His experience with clients and the courts provided me with not just an edge in helping me to achieve my short come goals. Still, he also helped to lay the long game in helping me reach a just and fair settlement. Divorce is what it is, but the Evans Family Law firm helped me to come out with not just my sanity, but the opportunity to build an even better life after a divorce. And that was the first time I worked with the firm!! More recently, the firm helped me establish a more feasible and sustainable co-parenting agreement. Given the current circumstances around COVID-19, working with the firm remote was efficient and straightforward. Throughout a short time, we collaboratively worked out the terms of a new agreement with relative ease. As I said in the first sentence, the Evans family once again delivered on helping my family establish new goal-posts for our co-parenting and professional lives.

Great assistance completing divorce during a period of uncertainty

I contacted the Evans Family Law Group to assist with filing a divorce in Austin. At the time, both the ex-wife and myself were living abroad. To add to our complications, COVID-19 restrictions prevented either of us from traveling to Austin to consult in-person or attend the court proceedings. Mr. ...Evans and his team were able to work through our difference in time zones and COVID restrictions to facilitate a painless and smooth filing of paperwork and completion of the divorce. 100% would recommend to anyone in need of legal assistance.

First, Jimmy is a man of his word. In a field that is often, by its nature, rife with anxiety, fear, and frustration, being able to trust another attorney's word has a tremendous impact on a client's ability to manage their emotions, the attorney' ability to remain focused on the legal issues, and finally, the overall cost of the suit.
