I’ve been a full-time practicing lawyer in Austin and Central Texas since 2000. I founded the Akhtar Law Firm in order to focus on doing what I love best: representing individuals and small and medium-sized businesses in Texas.
I was born in Wisconsin, and grew up in small towns in Kentucky and Kansas. I graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science, cum laude (high honors), in Mathematics in 1995. I then graduated from the University of Michigan Law School (consistently ranked one of the Top 10 law schools in the country) in 1999. I’ve done legal internships in both Houston and Dallas, but ultimately settled in our state capital, the beautiful city of Austin.
I have a lovely wife and three sons, and enjoy playing competitive tennis (always looking for new practice partners), watching college basketball (lifelong Kansas Jayhawks fan), writing, participating in interfaith activities (delegate of Interfaith Action of Central Texas), and participating as a parent in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts activities.

Th Best and ferocious attorney in town

Time Waster
Mr. Akhtar was very unprofessional. After consulting with him on a Thursday regarding a legal matter: he explained that I have a case he was interested in--he gave me his rates--but that he would be out of town and would email me Monday so that I could send him supporting docs, etc. He never email...

Replied last October 21, 2024Wow. There was never an established attorney-client relationship with this person. She contacted me just prior to my leaving on a four-day family vacation. When I returned, I did have a lot of existing client messages to return, as well as one client's emergency hearing to prep for, so it was hard to get back to her messages as quickly as she wanted. For those few days of delay in getting back to her with my email address (which, honestly, is plenty easy to get right from my website), she decided to post this review on both Google and Yelp. I reached out to her by email and apologized for having to catch up on client messages as well as one emergency case, and offered to review any documents if she would send them to me. Not only did she not respond at all (the irony), but she waited a couple of hours and then copy/pasted this exact same review on my Avvo profile! Quite vindictive, to say the least. From what anyone can see of her Google/Yelp review history, she loves to plaster local businesses with 1 and 2 star reviews (hair stylists, nail salons, hotels, pizza parlors, doctors, studios, maid services, etc.). But funny enough, she purports to be the owner of her own business, Keene Home Designs (since 2020), as indicated by her email address and her LinkedIn page. What that business does, I have no idea, as it has no website, no Google page available for reviews, etc. In other words, Ms. Rosemary is ever so "Keene" to bash others' businesses, but won't let her own business be open to customer reviews... that speaks volumes.
