Matthew Joseph Riley

Matt Riley graduated from the Lamar University with a degree in Finance and went on to complete his law degree at the University of Houston Law in law school Mr. Riley received multiple “Best Speaker” awards at national moot court competitions and received the “Best Brief” award at a national competition with teams from over 70 law schools present.

Since beginning his practice, Matt has gained considerable experience on both sides of the docket. Matt prides himself on the amount of civil litigation trial experience he's quickly gained.  Like the other lawyers at Shaw Cowart, Matt represents several corporations and businesses in their litigation and pre-litigation needs, while also continuing to help injured victims who have been wronged due to the negligence of others.

Recent experience and results include a multimillion dollar products liability trial,  drafting and arguing multiple successful motions for summary judgment in claims ranging from a multi-million dollar antitrust claim to products liability cases filed against corporate clients, and, along with Ethan Shaw, successfully defending a $700,000 personal injury claim filed against a corporate client, trying the case to a jury in federal court and receiving a take nothing judgment.

Matt also has notable experience in plaintiff personal injury and mass tort plaintiff cases.  Matt manages multiple of the firm's mass tort dockets, including DePuy defective hip cases, morcellator cases and IVC Filter cases.
