Mr. Slaughter moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1983 to train for the Olympic Trials. At the same time he represented the United States in national and international competitions, he also earned his Bachelor's degree from Trinity University. Following the 1992 Olympic Trials, Mr. Slaughter attended law school at St. Mary's University, and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1995.

From the time he joined the Texas Bar until 2004, Mr. Slaughter practiced Environmental and Public Utility Law at the TNRCC, PUC, State Office of Administrative Hearings, and in State Court. Mr. Slaughter then served for almost 13 years in the Travis County District Attorney's Office where he prosecuted a wide variety of felony offenses in District Court, Juvenile Court and before the Grand Jury.

In 2017, after he left the Travis County District Attorney's Office, Mr. Slaughter began defending Central Texans accused of criminal conduct. As an associate in the Austin office of a successful statewide law firm, Mr. Slaughter's clients were respectable local residents, most of whom stood accused of Driving While Intoxicated, Assault, and various drugs and weapons offenses. Mr. Slaughter also, in 2017, followed his passion to help others and joined the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services where he worked for the last half of the year as a Medic 1.

In January 2018, Mr. Slaughter started his own criminal defense law firm. In his spare time, Mr. Slaughter serves on the Board of Directors for Colin's Hope, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing childhood drownings (), and in the Texas State Guard where he serves as a medic, search and rescue technician, and in disaster response/preparedness/relief.

Best attorney in austin
I was wrongfully accused about 3 months ago and was looking at a long time in prison for something i didnt do, i hired Mr. Slaughter and he was very informative about my situation and how he planned to handle it and honestly i didnt have any hope Mr. Slaughter and Mrs. Nicole kept me on board with all that was going on during my case and answered all of the questions i asked, i was about to lose everything but he stuck to his word and did everything possible to get my case dismissed i couldnt thank him enough for what he’s done for my life but the least i can do is tell others about my experience and how hard this man worked for me.

Raising The Bar
I went to court after getting out of jail because the attorney I paid $5,000 dropped the ball and left me with no direction, zero hope and ready to enter a plea of guilty for something I didn't do. I've never had much faith in a system that permanently impacts the future and direction of human lives especially when the positive or negative outcome can be influenced by how much money you have to invest. Well I didn't have another $5,000 to put down on another attorney. I'm just a full time single father living paycheck to paycheck. With all that being said, I was standing before a judge broken and beaten. She asked me if I wanted time to obtain legal representation and before I could answer she looked passed me and asked who's turn it was to take the court appointed cases. No response.... The judge looked at me and was about to speak when someone behind me said "I'll take it". Call it luck, call it fate or devine intervention, in the moment itself I just saw it as an opportunity to spend more time with my son before getting locked up for 3 years. A few days later I started speaking with Mr. Slaughter and his paralegal Nicole and with every conversation, email and text came a little hope. Mr. Slaughter was a random attorney who knew nothing at all about my case and volunteered simply because he was there and in less than 3 months brought an end to my case. Today on August 24th 2018 Mr. Slaughter took the next three years of my life out of the hands of somebody else and put them back in the mine in the form of a folded yellow document labeled "motion to dismiss". Giving a brief description of the events they got me from point A to point B is easy but finding the words to express my gratitude is difficult. How do you thank somebody for that? I found mr. Slaughter to be confident, confident, professional and reassuring. He was not misleading and he did everything he said he would. I don't know how many people make up his staff and his legal team but if I couldn't get a hold of him Nicole just a phone call or text away and throughout these last few months she has been more than helpful and just as supportive. I couldn't have asked for a better attorney and besides the incident itself my biggest regret is that the money I spent didn't go to to the one who earned it. It is definitely nice to know that there are people in the judicial system that genuinely care. Five stars as far as I am concerned, by far, the best attorney how far has

Relationship: Worked together on matter
"I've collaborated with Jamie Slaughter on several cases, and I'm a better lawyer having worked with him. Jamie is well respected in the Travis County Courthouse and is often able to resolve cases for his clients when other Attorneys try and fail. He does a great job communicating with his clients and is able to predict how most cases will turn out when the case is still brand new. I highly recommend Jamie."

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community
"Jamie is an extremely dedicated attorney which enables him to achieve excellent results. As a former felony prosecutor, he has an insight into the strategies that will be used against a defendant. He is also well known and liked within the community which serves him well when negotiating on behalf of his clients. The decision of who to hire as a criminal defense attorney may be one of the most important choices a person will ever make. Without hesitation, I would recommend Jaime's services to anyone looking for help with a criminal law matter. If I needed an attorney, I would certainly call Jaime."
