Horrible Attorney

Ms. Wheeler, is one of the worst attorneys that I have retained. She will not represent you in a professional manner. I was literally told by opposing attorney, "Shut up! I don't care what you think about how we got here." Ms. Wheeler did nothing to correct this kind of unprofessional behavior. And i...f you don't call or respond to her emails (which is all charged from $37.50 to $50 per) she will withdraw from you case because you are not cooperating according to your client/counsel agreement.

Horrible Divorce Lawyer

Ms. Wheeler was appointed as my lawyer when I walked into the law office. The law office had good reviews, so I figured she would be good. She gave me quotes for an uncontested divorce (which it should have been) and I pressed on. After the mandatory 6 month waiting period, I said I was ready to pres...s on. She sent me some templates that I had to fill out and sent them back to her. She said she couldn't talk to my reach my ex's lawyer, ex's lawyer said she couldn't be reached. Turned into a contested divorce due to lack of communication, but I paid the price. Every email cost $50 to have a response. Multiple court dates were set, but she cancelled them or rescheduled them without my blessing. She did not support or defend me one bit. My ex's lawyer walked all over my case, and all I could do was beg for mercy from my ex. Overall, completely dissatisfied an I would never recommend her for any cases.

This was a Horrible Divorce Attorney

Last year, I hired Mrs Wheeler as my attorney. Worse decision ever; she was defiantly in it for the money. She rarely reviewed my case and everything Op counsel sent her came straight to me with out her ever looking at the documentation other than pressing the forward button. If you wanted to voice ...your oppinion or concerns she refused to lissen. She failed to fight for my case and was constantly walked on by the other attorney due to her lack of motivation. If you want a piece of mind and to help with the stress don't use this attorney or anyone in that firm. Because as soon as you give her the rerainer its to late.

Very dissatisfied!!

Ms. Wheeler did not seem to care what so ever about me or my case. She knew that I was in between jobs, and wasn't going to be able to start making payments until after my checks starting coming in. I had spoke with her assistant and was told that the full amount would need to be paid before the fina...l hearing took place. I received a letter in the mail stating that she was filing for a motion to withdrawal counsel due to me not communicating clearly and that I had not made payments as agreed. During my trial, she did not listen to what i had to say nor did she take me seriously. Ms. Wheeler let my ex husbands attorney paint a bad picture of me in front of the judge and never tried to counter any of the allegations. I also was the one who had to provide documents to support my case when she as my attorney was responsible for acquiring them. When the judge gave her verdict for temporary orders for the case, Ms. Wheeler stood there like a knot on a log not trying to do her best for my case. After we walked out of the courthouse, Ms Wheeler said she would have the temporary orders ready for signature by the end of the week. It's been over a month and she still has yet to present them to me. Diana Wheeler, I feel is just out for the money she can make, not for the best interest of her clients. She doesn't listen and acts like she doesn't care. I feel stupid for even hiring her in the first place, but in a crunch, you take what you can get. My mistake.

Very disappointed

Ms. Wheeler met with me for our initial appointment about a custody case. A lot of what she said about the process of modifying our custody arrangement during that initial appointment was not accurate. I don't know if she was just trying to make it sound simpler than it would be or if she just didn...'t know. Our case was rocky right from the start, and I ended up having to pay for documents twice because it took so long for her to get our summons to a process server. There was no way to have my ex-spouse served in time for the original court date. Additionally, she didn't seem to understand how jurisdiction between states was determined. Her lack of information on that subject also cost me money and our temporary hearing was wasted dealing with that. She wasn't a good advocate for me to the judges. Opposing counsel said a lot of vicious, untrue things about me, and I don't feel that she did much to counter those claims. Our judge had a pretty negative picture of me from opposing counsel while Ms. Wheeler did little to contradict the statements being made. I was truly disappointed with her counsel. A few months after our temporary hearing, she filed a motion to withdrawal counsel without letting me know in advance. She said that we had a break down in communication which is strange because I had told her assistant 3 weeks before this filing what my intentions were. I think that I was just not making enough money for her to keep me on the books. Later she agreed to drop the motion (which I regret now), but wanted me to pay for her filing it. When I balked at that, she had me play phone tag with her and her assistant before filing another motion for withdrawal of counsel. This time she stated that I was not abiding by our financial contract. I had just paid up all but $125 dollars (which was the cost of her motion to withdraw) the week before. The remaining $125 I hadn't paid because her assistant was going to call me back after talking to Ms. Wheeler about it. Since then, I have paid the full amount due to this point, but I'm worried about how being dropped for financial reasons is going to affect my ability to retain another lawyer. I don't think that Ms. Wheeler did know the process that our case involved. I think that my case was a little too complicated for her. I was also disappointed that the law firm that she worked for didn't have a mechanism in place for helping with my dispute with her over the bill. I had read that it was best to try to work out differences with your lawyer and avoid changing lawyers if possible, but Ms. Wheeler doesn't seem to feel that way.
