Poor Communication and Unprofessional Conduct

I hired Stephen Casey for a family law case (addressing violations of my divorce decree by my ex-wife) and a civil case (regarding my daughter’s college education fund). Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. While Mr. Casey initially presented himself as knowledgeable, his performa...nce throughout the case was disappointing. Key issues included: • Poor Communication: Emails and calls often went unanswered for days, leaving me uninformed about the progress of my case. • Missed Deadlines and Errors: He frequently waited until the last minute to complete tasks, resulting in avoidable mistakes. For example, he failed to compare the judge’s notes with the signed orders, causing me to miss court-ordered possession times with my daughter. • Neglect of Court Orders: On one occasion, the judge instructed him to draft a temporary order, but he never completed it. • Unnecessary Delays: He canceled three court dates, providing questionable excuses (e.g., illness, forgetting to announce the case, and blaming the court clerk for his oversight). These delays prolonged the case, missed more time with my daughter, and added to my stress and financial burden. Despite my efforts to remind him of tasks weeks in advance, his lack of organization and professionalism led to significant setbacks, including missed opportunities with my daughter and substantial monetary losses. While I appreciate his initial confidence, his overall handling of my case was unprofessional and detrimental. I would not recommend Stephen Casey unless significant improvements are made to his communication, organization, and attention to detail.

This review does not reflect the experience of the vast majority of my clients, as reflected in the other reviews. It contains multiple false statements. Ethical rules prevent me from discussing case details publicly, but I welcome anyone to contact my office directly to discuss services.

Quick to answer my questions and very helpful and understanding

I had a few questions pertaining to a CPS investigation that was closed. Mr. Casey was available to speak with me promptly at the time I had made an appointment with him. He listened and asked questions as needed to better understand my situation. I felt he was very knowledgeable and was very tho...rough to explain my options and advise me on how to proceed. I am very thankful that I found him and that he was able to help me make a well-advised decision. I will most definitely call on him again if I should ever find myself in need of legal services again.

Honest

Mr. Casey is an excellent lawyer. He got me the least amount if time and money. He was on top of my case. He kept me informed amber updated on my case. He kept in contact, when he said he would. He was straight forward and honest, and personable. I felt comfortable with and trusted him with my case.

"I have not met Mr. Casey face to face, however with his collaboration, "we" won an appeal that saved a man from a 45 year sentence. Several years ago, Mr. Casey was involved in a similar case. He shared his strategy. I used the information, and language he provided and "we" won the appeal. I see why his clients are so happy. I endorse Mr. Casey."
