I had first retained to Amber in 2016 to deal with a custody case. At the time I was a young, new dad fighting for custody of my son. My son's mother was withholding him from me for days, weeks, even an entire month one point. Prior to even thinking of retaining any legal counsel, I had did what most... guys in my situation would think to do: I filed a case with the OAG. As many out there may have experienced, the OAG did not work in my best interest. I got to the court and they immediately threw me on child support, told me I had to pay $588 a month in child support when I was only making minimum wage and gave my child's mother pretty much everything she asked for without bothering to hear me out. When I retained Amber, all of that started to change. I genuinely felt like I had somebody who was in my corner working for me. She gave me excellent advice, was able to undo the previous order that the OAG put in place and got me everything I asked for. Til this day, I still have primary custody of my son. She was professional, knowledgeable and couldn't have been more lenient with the costs. At the time, I made $7.50/hr and she made it work. As with many custody battles, eventually accusations were thrown my way by the other parent but Amber, again demonstrating her legal expertise, took care of everything. I recommend her to all of my clients and anyone reading this review.

I hired Amber Hinson for my divorce case and was highly impressed by her services. My divorce case was simple, no children and we had not been married for long. I had previously contacted many lawyers in the Austin area but most of them were asking for an unreasonably high retainer and were trying to... make the process lengthy and expensive for no reason at all. Miss Amber was a breath of fresh air. She is very reasonably priced and tried to get the process completed as quickly as possible. I would highly recommend her to people with straightforward and simple divorce cases.

My husband and I came in for a consultation on a Friday . Neither of us knowing the laws or how things go on this matter she sounded great! Almost too good to be true. She told us exactly what she would do as soon as we dropped the retainer. Monday we dropped off the retainer fee. Fast forward to ...Thursday, haven't heard anything yet. We knew it was a strong possibility the person we were seeking help with would be a problem that Friday. Wanted to make sure the restraining order was in place like she said it would be. No call back Thursday. Friday morning we called a few times then finally get a call back. All she had done was pick up some files from the attorney general. That's it! No restraining order and of course the person we were concerned with was there Friday. Oh and showed up to our home saturday. Great fun. Amber also said she was waiting on info that she needed from us...the same info she said she would handle at the initial consultation. We have a very time sensitive matter which she was well aware of. We visited another, reputable lawyer. 90 percent of every thing she told us would happen, can't! BY LAW! I don't know if she wasn't up to date, doesn't handle many of these cases or was just blowing hot smoke. Either way, if you are fighting to get custody of a child she is not the way to go. Maybe she is great with divorces where all parties agree but that's not what we were there for. I'm glad we found out early instead of wasting any more time. She did give us our retainer back in a timely manner, which I am great full for.

I hired Amber when my divorce, which was supposed to be uncontested, became more complicated. Amber was knowledgeable, and honest about the reality of my situation. She saw through the games my ex's attorney was playing and put a stop to them. She was tenacious. I got exactly what I wanted, and c...ouldn't be happier. I love her itemized bills, I know exactly what I am getting for my money. There was no bill padding or outrageous fees. I am actually getting some of my retainer back! I couldn't recommend her more highly for someone going through divorce in Travis County.
