High recommendation for Alfred Kay

I hired Mr. Kay to work on three separate law suits filed against me for the student loans of my deceased husband. Mr. Kay was helpful and stated realistic expectations. He was very patient with all my inquiries and professional and kind through all our communications. Mr. Kay won all three case...s! I am so grateful to have the burden of those hefty lawsuits lifted.

"Highly Recommended Attorney"

I met Alfred through my Texas Legal Protection plan after having picked the wrong attorney for my case when my ex-husband was keeping my children unless I went back to him. Although it was too late to change counsel I used Alfred to advise me on the work my present attorney was doing in my case afte...r dropping the first attorney. I wish Alfred was my first attorney on my case. I've never met an attorney that was as companionate and honest as him. He always was upfront with me and gave me an honest answer. He doesn't feed off of your emotions as many attorneys’ do during a divorce to rack up fees or drag out a case. He once met me at a downtown to attend a CLE class with me to learn more about my ex-husband's injuries he sustained in Iraq. He always found the time to return my calls and answer any of my questions. When my attorney didn't finish my case properly he drew up the paperwork to conclude my case. He is very knowledgeable in family law, data discovery, and debt.

Property tax deferral expert, drawing upon his skills in many areas of civil practice

Alfred Kay is a capable and compassionate attorney of the first order. In the mid-90's, he assisted my aunt with a serious tax situation involving her house. She is divorced and depends almost exclusively on Social Security benefits. In response to the ad valorem tax bill issued to her by the Dall...as Central Appraisal District , which she had no means to pay, he filed a property tax deferral on her behalf, and she has not had to pay any property taxes since then, as she has maintained the house as her homestead and intends to do so until her death. I have hired Mr. Kay on two occasions to represent me personally, each of which involved a most difficult matter, both personally and financially. One was as my counsel in my divorce from my first wife in 1987; the other time was to represent my second wife and me in a bankruptcy proceeding, in 2001-2002. His sage advice and his understanding approach made both situations much more endurable.

experience and compassion

My sister suffers from HD- Huntington Disease (which is a neurological disease that effects the rational division of the brain). Due to her disability, we needed someone with not just experience, but with compassion and an understanding of her limitations. Her divorce was unique due to the medical... issues, and Alfred made sure she received additional TLC when she called. He was quick to respond back and did additional research on disability laws that benefited her greatly in the end. For as hard as the divorce was on the family, knowing he was protecting my sister was a relief for all of us.

The worst experience received from a lawyer

We reached out to this lawyer in the morning and his secretary requested 1 document from us that was a temporary order. The issue was regarding a custody matter and it was an emergency as the primary parent was admitted to the mental hospital and we needed emergency protective orders and revocation o...f a temporary order. We requested to meet with the lawyer right away and was advised he will be available in 30 minutes, the office was 20 miles away so we were on our way. When we got there his secretary scolded us because she meant available for a call and not to meet in person, we advised her that it is ok and we can talk to him in the car. He called and said that he is reviewing one document and will call back. We called him right back and told him that he does not have all the paperwork and does not know what we needed. I was with my uncle and since he speaks English as a second language, I was assisting. Alfred kept on saying "I only speak to one person" he kept on cutting my uncle off. My uncle told him "my ex", Alfred cut him off and said "sir, you are not divorced!", my uncle stated that he was divorced, Alfred cut him off again and said "YOU ARE NOT MARRIED, I DO NOT HAVE THE FINAL DIVORCE DECREE". We told him that is why we want to tell you what the issue is, he cut us off again. He would not listen to the issue and could not care less about the situation. I do not recommend this person to anyone. He wasted a whole day of our time and did not even assist. His attitude was one that did not want to help and one that did not care for the 5 and 11 year old that were in danger. Stay away.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"I had the pleasure of serving as opposing counsel to Mr. Kay during a divorce case. The clients were very emotional and assets being divided were relatively high. This is usually a recipe for lengthy and expensive cases. Thanks to our mutual efforts, we were able to work out a great conclusion for our clients that kept much of their estate in tact without the need to pay high attorney fees. Mr. Kay was courteous and respectful to everyone, even when we didn't see eye to eye. I was so impressed with him that I have stayed in contact since that case and consider him an outstanding member of the Austin and Georgetown Legal Profession. I know to stay on my guard when he's the opposing attorney, but he is is very efficient and effective for his clients."
