Tyler Key

Tyler Key is a partner at Key Law Office PC.  His primary practice areas are in family law, civil litigation, and business law.  In the family law context, Tyler’s main interests involve the division of complex, high value marital estates with complicated asset holdings or investment structures and businesses owned by the community estate.  He also makes it clear that he truly holds the best interests of the children as his preeminent concern and enjoys the opportunity to help individuals develop and implement the best parenting plan possible.  In civil litigation Tyler is dedicated to fight for justice for the wrongfully injured and not for insurance companies who, despite what they insist in advertisements and PR campaigns, don’t seem to care much for the average person.  In other civil litigation cases Tyler looks to take clients with complex problems who need an energetic and enthusiastic ally in negotiation and the courtroom.  In the business law arena, Tyler particularly enjoys helping develop and advise small businesses and offers advice and connections that will help improve the community.

Tyler grew up in Hays County, went to Texas Tech University as an undergraduate, worked for a state agency after college for a few years, and graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in December of 2013.  After law school he worked for a major insurer in their Special Liability Group where he helped manage litigation for mass tort cases throughout the South including asbestos, toxic waste, and multi-plaintiff defective product cases.  While he was grateful to be exposed and to understand the inner workings and strategies of a company like that, the experience left him with a clear understanding of how those companies operate and a firm commitment to never again help such a company in litigation.   He then developed great trial skills at a plaintiff’s firm working under a very successful jury trial attorney.  In late 2014 he returned to Hays County and has focused on developing a family law practice since.

In addition to being passionate about his role as a lawyer, Tyler loves being a father, an outdoorsman with a major emphasis on fly fishing and bird hunting, and a soccer coach.
