Stolen funds and misconduct

I hired him on July 3, 2023 where we met st hos office and i paid in full for an uncontested divorce. He stayed in contact for a month then disappeared. I attemped several times to contact him and even showed up at his office to no avial. The. I had gotten ahold of hos assistant Philip S. Same thing ...with contact over a month then nothing. Then i finally had gotten ahold of him a month ago, he apologized and saud he would get my divorced finalized asap. Well here it is once again no replies back. I hace requested refund of my funds but no reply. I hace all receipts and correspondances sonce all tbis had started. So i am going to have to file with the police for stolen funds and with the Bar Association of Tx for missappriopriated funds and misconduct and to file a claim. I trusted him, due to hom being a public figure. At this point i just want my finds funds returned.

The Best of the Worst

Like the two other attorneys I had to terminate in my case, John Hicks talked a great game until the check hit his bank account. Stay away from attorneys like him that charge using a flat fee. This business model forces these attorneys to overload themselves to keep money in their bank accounts. Th...ey cannot possibly provide the service they promise, so (big surprise) they don’t. John has a very experienced Paralegal assisting him so you would think they would be able to return calls or texts. They never could and never apologized or acknowledged it. Even when I confronted them. They use an answering service that is absolutely useless and only funnels new business calls through. I was able to negotiate to get John’s direct cell number and still he could not get him to answer or return calls. The week before my case went to court I was promised a meeting to prepare which never happened. No strategy meeting occurred for our star witness as well. We all failed together because of this lack of communication and having no strategy going into court. If he had just met with us all and role played we would have had very good chance of successfully presenting our case. He was relying on our expert witness to carry the load and so he was unprepared when the opposing counsel shot her down. To me that is just laziness or lack of interest. I could go on forever but suffice to say I cannot in good conscience recommend this attorney to anyone I care about. It is difficult to find a competent and caring attorney to represent you in a civil court proceeding. Having dealt with three incompetent attorneys who all contributed in some way to my cases failure, my opinion is that most if not all Family Law attorneys will promise the moon and deliver frustration and heartache once your check has cleared. It’s up to you to advocate for yourself. Which I did tirelessly. You want an attorney that will take the weight off of your shoulders. That is what a good attorney does. That was not the case with John Hicks. My emotional stress was multiplied tenfold in dealing with the Hicks Lawfirm. I am not interested in besmirching Mr. Hick’s reputation as much as providing an honest review of my experience. I wish it had been different. My best recommendation is to pay attention to promises not kept and poor communication. As much of a hassle it is to have to find a new attorney you must terminate them quickly. I learned the hard way and the months of delay contributed to the loss of my case because it was time sensitive. Good luck my friends. It is a jungle out their.
