Richard D. O'Neil

I grew up in New England and graduted from the University of New Hampshire with honors in political science.  I moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1975 and attended St. Mary's Univ. School of Law and graduated in 1978.  I married Amy, a CPA, in 1976.  We have three successful professional chiildren: an architect, engineer, and an attorney. I worked in the Trial Section of the San Antonio City Attorney's Office from 1978-1990, managing  land acquisition, public works construction/engineering,  environmental cases and contracts.  I joined my current Firm, DTR&G,PC  in 1990, pursuing similar legal matters from the private side and in the 2000's began to develop a mediation and arbitration practice as a neutral and litigator, mostly on construction and design related matters. DTR&G has San Antonio and Austin Offices. I currently represent both public and private clients when no conflict exists.  I am on the panel of neutrals for Conflict Solutions of Texas, based in San Antonio, offering an alternative to AAA. I have served as Managing Partner for the Firm and am now Senior Chairman of the Board of Directors. I am licensed in Texas, and the Southern and Western Federal Districts where I have appeared in contested matters. I have been the Chair of the local Environmental Section of the S.A. Bar, and served on the State Bar Steering Comm. for Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section. I have spoken at numerous conferences on construction,environmental, municipal and contract law topics. I have been M&H "AV" rated for many years. I coached AAU womens' basketball for 7 years, taking teams to the national tournament every year. Four of my players received college scholarships and one has played professionally.  I have been president of the local Kiwanis Charities Club and served on the Board of Directors of the local Boysville, Inc.  residential campus foster care home.  I enjoy professional sports, memorabilia collecting, travel, and classic rock n' roll.
