Chris Peterson is the owner of Peterson Law Group. He practices estate planning, probate, elder law and business planning.
He is a member of Wealth Counsel, Elder Counsel and Advisor's Forum, three leading organizations for estate planning and elder law attorneys nationwide. Chris is also a Certified Estate Planner® through the National Institute of Certified Estate Planners. He has been a guest lecturer on estate planning for Texas A&M University's Certified Financial Planner courses. In addition, he is a member of the National Institute of Certified Estate Planners, the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils, the State Bar of Texas Real Estate, Trust & Probate Section, the Brazos County Bar Association and the Montgomery County Bar Association. He is also on the Legal Advisory Council for the National Institute for Family and Life Advocates.
Chris grew up in Bryan and graduated from Bryan High in 1989. In 1993, he received a Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College in Political Science and Biblical & Theological Studies. He then obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law in 1996.
He is actively involved in the local community. Chris currently serves as the Chairman of the Texas Triangle Regional Center for Innovation and Commercialization and on the local advisory board for BBVA Compass Bank. He also currently serves as an Elder as Westminster Presbyterian Church. He previously served as President of the Bryan School Board, President of the Bryan Business Council, Chairman of the Board of the Research Valley Partnership, Vice President of the Bryan-Brazos County Economic Development Foundation, and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Bryan Texas Utilities, in addition to many other civic, nonprofit and church boards. Chris is a member of both the Bryan-College Station and the Conroe Chambers of Commerce.
Besides practicing law, Chris is a serial entrepreneur and has been involved in starting businesses ranging from a local community newsmagazine, chocolates, and real estate development. He currently owns Brazos 1031 Exchange Company LLC and is a shareholder of Aggieland Title Company.
Chris has been married to his college sweetheart, Debbie since 1994. They have 3 kids (one of whom is adopted).
