ZERO STARS

I wish I could rate this law office with zero stars. If you find yourself needing a family law attorney stay far away from this one. I hired her to help me with a divorce. Georgia's low hourly rate is attractive but I was way better off replacing her with a more expensive, more organized attorney tha...t got the job done in 2 weeks versus the 10 months I was represented by this office. I received other clients' documents multiple times in my email from their office. she never knew if I was the petitioner or respondent, never felt she was in my corner and everything was done at a snail's pace that ultimately cost me money. We attended mediation together 6 months after I filed for divorce and after two hours I realized the other side did not even have their signed inventory and we should have never showed up. So I asked the mediator to stop the mediation in order for the other side to provide their documents and it was granted. Without a full picture of the community estate, we could not have made a deal that all parties could sign that day even if we wanted to. That was a cost to me of about $800.00 and was a complete waste of time and money. The trial date was 4 months later and still did not have a complete inventory from the respondent. I received a notice of trial date in the mail from the court with no zoom link information, only the street address to the family court. The day before the trial I emailed her and asked if we were GOING to trial since we were not even close to being prepared and her answer was yes we will APPEAR and ask for a reset in order to have more time to meditate. Great, so since we are only asking for a reset do I need to ATTEND? She answered yes, please. So, I drove to downtown Houston in rush hour traffic, pay twenty bucks to park, and then walked 2 blocks in 32-degree weather to the court house, take off my shoes, had my purse searched, and finally made it to the courtroom and no one was there but me the judge and the bailiff. I sat down and waited for the docket to be called and when my name was called I could hear Georgia through the judge's computer answer for me. Everyone was on Zoom but me. She never sent me the zoom link despite my inquiry the day before if we were GOING to court, and being told we would APPEAR and I needed to ATTEND. I am thick-skinned but this lady was super rude to me. I went to her office on one occasion and while I was waiting for her I pulled out some papers, sat them all out in front of me to discuss with her, and when she came into the conference room, instead of sitting at the opposite end of the table from me she made me gather all my papers and move to the other end of the table. She said "I know you just laid all that out but do you mind moving to the other end of the table, I don't want to sit too close to you because of Covid" Really, that's how you treat your clients? There were at least 5 other chairs available however she felt it was best to ask me to move. She also spoke to me in a very demeaning manner throughout the long 10 months and was very very rude. I was very happy with the outcome of my case after hiring another attorney that ran their office way more efficiently, had an awesome paralegal and I always felt they were in my corner. This was a divorce with no children and should have not been drug out as she did. In two weeks' time, the attorney I replaced her with finally got the signed inventory from the respondent and had gathered all the needed documents and prepared a proposed property settlement that was 50/50. In the end, I was able to make a deal at mediation with my new attorney because we were prepared for mediation ahead of time and made sure the respondent was as well before attending mediation. If you are not prepared for mediation YOU WILL LOSE OUT and you are wasting time and money. Do yourself and your pocketbook a favor and research other attorneys that are more organized, nicer to their clients, and more efficient before hiring this one.

Great Lawyer in Katy, Texas

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value! I recently went through a divorce and Barker Law Firm was truly amazing. Georgia is a great lawyer, she is very responsive and always attentive to details. Her team is also great and always on top of everything. Everyone knew what was going ...on with my case and I never had to chase them down for anything. I would recommend this firm to anyone in need of a family lawyer. Georgia knows her stuff and she will always provide the best advise and path forward for your benefit. She will fight for her client and get you the best possible outcome. Best thing for me was the access I always had to being able to discuss or talk to her over the phone at any time. She was ALWAYS available. I was really happy with my outcome and her great work! Hands down one of the best family lawyers out there! You wont regret it!

Great for family law - Recommended!!

Georgia is very experienced in family law and because of her experience she definitely ease any of my tension on the case and made it more simple. She is one of the few that knows the Houston's court system in crowded lawyers community. She was very patient, professional and understanding thorough ou...t my divorce case. She followed up with any concerns or questions I had in real time... She explained the charges and costs to me before the case begin. She was very honest and realistic and doesn't sugar coat anything:) She was very knowledgeable of the laws concerning my case. If she is not sure of the law she will try to find out within a hours period. It was pleasure working with her in my divorce matter. Thanks Georgia!
