Like many other families, we were faced with decisions that we really didn’t think we would need to make… my Dad’s dementia was deepening and my Mom, his Caretaker, was beginning to rapidly fail herself.
It came to the point I knew my Dad needed more care than what my Mom was capable of providing. It needed to be done quickly and correctly. Frankly, I was worried my Mom would pass before my Dad.
My parents are retired school-teachers. That means they are not rich, but they do have income. It certainly means they do not have the money for Nursing Home care that my Dad needs, and for that matter, my Mom needed for him to have.
I knew that trying to do the paper work and application for Medicaid was far beyond my ability and know-how. I recognized at that point we needed an Attorney to handle this for us.
I looked for a nearby attorney and found Richard Shea. This was one of the best decisions made in this difficult junction of our lives.
Richard reviewed everything carefully…. He answered questions timely… He worked as a partner with our family.
We are so grateful we hired him…it turns out that one of the accounts my mom had saved money through her job, would have been at risk if we had made the application first. Richard identified the situation and made suggestions on how to restructure it, which we did. While the amounts would not seem large to most people with an IRA or Pension, it was huge for my mom, and meant a lot to her monthly income. This one detail, more than paid for Richard’s fee.
My Dad is in a great facility. My Mom is able to relax and reclaim part of her life because she doesn’t have the heavy burden of caring for my father any longer. She can sleep at night and not have to worry if my Dad was going to get out of bed and turn on the stove and burn the house down! (He actually came close one time.) She is actually getting healthier. During her last check-up, her doctor told her he was pleased with her resurgent health.
I cannot recommend Richard enough. He is well worth his fee since he will fill out the paperwork and handle the application process and deal with the questions from the Examiner. These are details that are nerve racking enough, let alone during a stressful time.
If you are faced with these decisions, I recommend you hire Richard to handle the details. You have enough stress as it is, let him handle the part you that you are not an expert in handling. You will feel a lot better that you did.

Medicaid Qualify
Richard helped me when I did not know who to turn to. Like most of us, this was all new to me. I needed help for my wife. Called a couple of lawyers but they never replied. Saw Richard on internet and consulted him and got immediate response. Laid out all the pros and cons for me. I decided he knew what he was doing and hired him right away. We were miles apart but he guided me step by step on how to proceed. Thanks again for your help. Could not have done it without you.

Professional and thorough
We could not have gotten my mom approved Without Mr. Shea's expertise. He was quick to recognize areas that needed to be addressed and was always prompt at returning my calls and always followed up with updates or to request further needed information.
Mr. Shea was recommended to us by a friend of the family and we have no words to thank him for his professional guidance throughout the whole process.

Application for Medicaid
My mother was in assisted living, had a crisis, and had to move to long term care. The cost was incredible. We inquired about Medicaid and found the application overwhelming. We found Mr. Shea online, met with him at his office and started the process to qualify my mother for Medicaid. Mr. Shea's instructions were concise, his responses to questions were prompt, he responded when there were "hiccups", did not get impatient with my own frustrations, and got my mother qualified. Thank you, Richard

Nursing home help for my mother
Four years ago, my mother had a stroke. I desperately needed help with nursing home issues and how to fund my mom's care. Before finding Mr.Shea, I met with two other law firms. From our first contact, Mr. Shea treated me as if I were a family member and he quickly coordinated my mother's care. In addition to his professionalism, Mr. Shea is very understanding, easy to work with and always available to answer questions. This is the only aspect of my mother's care that I have not had to worry about or lose sleep over. I strongly encourage anyone needing legal advice to contact Mr. Shea.

Colaborative Divorce Proceedings
I found Rich, online when my ex wife and I decided that divorce was our last resort. Our Primary goal was to do what was best for the kids and not let the judge or attorneys decide what was best for our children. I explained to Rich what we wanted and he created a plan to help my wife and I see that to fruition. Even through the various emotional stages of the divorce process.Rich was a constant and adapted to the unique position that I had taken on various issues. The outcome was as he had predicted and all parties were satisfied.
