Melissa became my court appointed attorney for an family violence case. 3rd degree felony violation of protective order and impeding breath. Let me Begin by saying that I am not always the easiest person to deal with. Throughout this entire legal process, Miss Dickson always kept me well informed of exactly what was happening. In late 2019, I had an illegal alien file a fraudulent accident claim against me, for an accident I allegedly left the scene of. My insurance company disproved the claim in court, and disposed of the claim. However, in the course of setting up this fraudulent claim for his illegal alien client, their attorney apparently filed a fraudulent accident report with Harris County. Even though the insurance case was dismissed, because it was a fraudulent claim, my ticket was never dismissed. Fast forward to early 2021. I was arrested on the two-year-old fraudulent warrant from the fraudulent accident claim. Miss Dickson was always on time. Always well acquainted with the facts and the current status of my case. Melissa was my court appointed attorney for my felony cases in 2017 and 2018 during my time of incarceration. At the time I had 2 felony charges 1) drug possession <1g, state jail felony and 2) Agg. Assault Family Member 2nd Degree felony that I was on deferred adjudication probation. I violated my ...probation with a DWI and spent 6 months fighting these. On our first visit the judge at the time was offering me a 2 year TDC (Prison sentence) and I was absolutely floored to hear this as I have never been to prison. I was lost for words and it seemed to be the fate of what was to come. When on deferred adjudication probation and you violate it you've already entered a guilty plea and it seemed to be a dead end and no way of getting around it but Melissa found a way. She went back and talked with the DA on the same visit in Harris County and found something that could possibly get my Aggravated Assault charged dropped down to a misdemeanor. Note that I had already entered a guilty plea on the AGG ASSAULT. From what I was told its hard to get a judge to downgrade a charge from 2nd degree felony to a MISDEMEANOR when you were on deferred and pled guilty already. She came back with this and I saw a beam of hope in front of me. I waited for the next court date anticipating a positive outcome and my GOD it was. Melissa got my AGG ASSAULT down to a misdemeanor ASSAULT and time served for the FELONY Drug possession and the misdemeanor assault. I walked out of county jail the next day after spending 6 months in and avoided TDC prison time. Those 2 cases were time served and done with. No probation, no prison time, no fees to pay and free!!! Also, after being out I still had to deal with the MISDEMEANOR DWI case. I hired Melissa and she got me time served for it and surcharges waived. BEST COURT APPOINTED ATTORNEY I COULD HAVE EVER HAD!!!
