Matthew Ray Mendez

Matthew Mendez is the founding attorney and owner of Mendez Law Office, PLLC, a Houston-based firm representing clients in immigration, federal habeas corpus, criminal defense, appeals, and personal injury matters. He built the firm from the ground up to serve Houston's immigrant and Spanish-speaking community. Today it operates as a bilingual practice with more than 40 employees.
Mr. Mendez is licensed in Texas. He is admitted to all four United States District Courts in Texas (Southern, Northern, Eastern, and Western) and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

The firm's federal docket is substantial. Mr. Mendez and the firm's attorneys have represented hundreds of families in federal proceedings across all four Texas federal districts and the Fifth Circuit, with particular depth in immigration-detention habeas litigation.

Outside the practice, Mr. Mendez serves on the board of My Connect Community, a Houston nonprofit focused on housing, education, and economic opportunity in the Gulfton and Sharpstown neighborhoods. He supports children's mental health initiatives through the Mendez Foundation and is a personal donor to the University of Texas at Austin.
