L. Michelle Schmidt

Michelle Schmidt worked as a paralegal with Eric Schmidt for over 30 years before attending law school and becoming a licensed attorney. Michelle enjoys correcting other attorneys who make assumptions that she is a "baby lawyer" as her valuable and extensive paralegal experience belies such a notion. Eric and Michelle handled, as a team, their first divorce together in 1984. Quite interestingly, for a period of 10 years Michelle spent time in corporate America, earning sales honors at Chase Bank and being awarded “Salesperson of the Year” at American Express in 2004. Michelle capitalizes on all that sales expertise when she is in the courtroom. In law school, Michelle earned multiple Cali awards (the award that recognizes the top performing student in a particular legal subject). One of those Cali awards was, (no surprise here) for top performance by a student in Family Law. Because Michelle values legal education and constantly seeks to hone her skills, like Mr. Schmidt, she is also a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas. In the final analysis, Michelle brought corporate polish, life experience and extensive paralegal experience when she joined the firm as a practicing attorney.
