Excellent guide thru custody battle with mentally ill ex

Bret Bosker was able to guide us thru a difficult custody case that involved a mentally ill ex. He taught me how to respond or not respond in order to make it better for all involved. He deeply cares about the children involved and he will lead you with integrity.

Thinking on his feet

Mr. Bosker represented me for a visitation case in 200-2001. He was forced to deal with my exwife, who was a few years later ruled unemployable due to psychosis, although that was a diferent case. The mental illness had generated a host of circumstances that even baffled the judge, but he was able to... work this out because is more than competent. He does not learn so much from lost cases as learn on the fly so as to avoid losing the case to begin with. More than being a good attorney he has a sense of ethics -- he is the only honest lawyer I've ever met.

Outstanding service through a VERY difficult divorce

I had a very nasty divorce involving a bi-polar wife who claimed her lawyer had told her she could take all my kids if she accused me of sexual abuse; four biological children; four children adopted from Kazakhstan including two special-needs children; and a foster child taken in after another couple...'s adoption had failed. I wanted to protect my children from having to see their parents duke it out in court but also protect them from the neglect and emotional abuse they were suffering with their mother. Bret did a fabulous job of understanding what my own priorities were and of helping me find the best way to patiently work through the process in order to achieve those goals. I can't imagine what I would have done without him, and I now keep him on retainer as my family lawyer.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
