Startling incompetence

How on earth do hire someone that doesn't have any idea how oil and gas deals work? Why would I spend the money to have my staff do all the court work, all the title work, and then have to tell this man what it all means? It is shameful what a waste of time this lack of representation was.

Conflict of Interest

I do not typically express my feelings in a forum such as this but this is one time where it is necessary. My firm has been a Baker client for 11 years. I have always been pleased with their work. This addition to the team was not helpful. He speaks broadly about his own interests in the oil patc...h and gives details about other Baker clients that I should not know. If he is telling me specifics on what a competitor is doing in the same region we are investing in, I can only conclude he has the capacity to do the same about our firm. That is unacceptable.

Cannot recommend

The biggest thing one needs in a lawyer is trust. I just did not get that with this lawyer. There is just too much swirling around him and it makes for a very poor attorney-client relationship. First of all his credentials do not match up to his rhetoric; he spends most of his time with you lectur...ing about his time at Haynes Boone yet he never bothers to put it on his bio or LinkedIn. And he will not talk about why he left his own firm. Even here he is listed at Adams Reese and is actually at Baker Donelson. And, he states he joined Baker in August 2012 when in reality it was November. I suspect this is to hide times of unemployment. I understand he changes firms as often as most people change trousers but telling the truth seems to be lost in this revolving door. I do not mean that professionals should not consider better opportunities when presented to them but in this situation these frequent changes are, well, a little odd. If it is required that I tell my attorney everything I expect him or her to do the same. You will not find that here. I got the sense he did not have a very good handle of the oil and gas business. Things change very quickly in this business and I do not think this attorney has kept up. We have been very active in acquisitions and time is money. Expect too much time and too much money with this attorney, and do not expect a good result.
