Mark is a bright lantern through my darkest hour!

I was caught in a legal issue that I had no idea how to fight. Like most people, I am completely unequipped on how to read, speak, and protect myself from the legal system. Mark was very patient with me and guided me step-by-step on how to approach this situation, some possible outcomes, and what do ...after said outcomes. Luckily, thanks to his guidance, I found myself in the best case scenario. Thank you Mark for your kindness, patience, encouragement and guidance through this difficult time of mine. I'd highly recommend Mark Yablon to anyone who is in need of a lawyer someone who is very knowledgable, patient, and can educate you about your situation.

Very knowledgeable

Mr. Yablon was very helpful after my ex-husband passed and I had several questions regarding his estate. He left our 20 yr old daughter as the custodian of everything and I didn’t want her to be responsible for his bills or headaches. Mr. Yablon answered all of my questions, gave me excellent advice,... and we were able to settle everything. Mr. Yablon was very reasonable, upfront and honest. I highly recommend Mr. Yablon.

Did not provide service promised and paid for

I hired Mark for to file a Motion to secure performance on a Contract. A simple matter. The matter was urgent so, at his request, I paid him a substantial fee on his promise he would give my case priority in exchange. He took my money but refused to do what he was paid to do.

Ed, sorry you feel this way. But your statement is untrue other than you hired me for an urgent matter and paid a fee. You had an important hearing 6 days after our first encounter. I attended the hearing well prepared, advocated for you, and the judge gave you grace and respect. I prioritized my work for you as promised until you 1) demanded I file pleadings you wrote that I believed inappropriate, 2) accused me of colluding with your opposition and the judge, and 3) demanded that I work for free after paying a relatively small initial retainer. And your case was not simple. Besides fighting your siblings and court-appointed personnel, you were fighting the same basic issues in multiple courts. One of those courts issued an Order declaring you to be a vexatious litigant. The Ninth Edition of Black's Law Dictionary defines "vexatious litigant" as "A litigant who repeatedly files frivolous lawsuits. * Many jurisdictions have statutes or local rules requiring a vexatious litigant to obtain the court's permission to file any further lawsuits or pleadings...." Sincerely, Mark

Consulted with Mark Yablon via Zoom. I thought I was meeting with Mark Yablon and one of his associates to discuss my case. I didn't realize I was meeting with Mark Yablon and another attorney from another law firm. I'm so used to dealing with the most classiest people in the legal field, however, m...y experience with Yablon, his associate, and attorneys in Texas in general, has left me feeling like they are only interested in helping themselves. I wasn't sure why Yablon asked for a copy of the attorney agreement that I signed with another attorney, but I was naive and gave him the benefit of the doubt, and I provided it. I was also multi-tasking while handling his and his associate's request for documents regarding my case. I didn't understand why his associate asked me to send documents that can be found on court's website, and also for all documents (including evidence) related to my case. If I were you, if an attorney that you are consulting with ask you for these details, I would ask for a confidentiality agreement, so if they say no to your case, there isn't another person who doesn't need to know all the details of your case, involved. Be careful. I have yet to meet a "people's attorney" in Texas. I hope that you have better luck. I have yet to meet an attorney who is truly interested in helping another human being for the sake of justice. You find more attorneys like that in places like California and New York. I consider Texas now to be the rudest state in America. The court system and attorneys like Yablon, and others, treat individuals horribly (in comparison to my past experience).

Dear Anonymous, I'm sorry that your free consultation with us did not go the way you wanted. If you are the person I am thinking of, most or all your issues were litigated by your prior counsel or you, pro se, before you contacted us. Therefore, we were unable to find a way to help you with your legal matters. But our opinion does not mean you cannot seek other attorneys who may be willing to do what you desire. So please do not let our opinion limit from whom you seek legal advice. It is common for attorneys considering whether to accept a contingency fee engagement to understand the case facts, obligations the prospective client has with former counsel, and objectives of the prospective client before accepting a matter. And there is no need for a confidentiality agreement because attorneys are required to keep confidential matters confidential. Please feel free to contact our office so we may learn from you how to better treat others. Sincerely, Mark

"We hired Mark P. Yablon on a contract basis more than a year ago to draft probate pleadings for our more complicated intestate and testate cases. Not only did he do what we asked, but he also discovered information to help our clients and asked pertinent questions to do the job beyond the norm. Mark Yablon is knowledgeable, pleasant, and earnest in doing what is best for the client. I recommend him without reservation and will refer civil litigation and family law cases his way."

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
