I retained this firm (Charles Vethan) during active litigation under a contingency arrangement. In the middle of the case, Charles withdrew. A motion for summary judgment was filed against me. After months of litigation, the firm ultimately recovered nothing. Separately, the firm was handling my pending trademark application. Following withdrawal, I did not receive clear notice of critical USPTO deadlines or a proper transfer of the file. The application was later deemed abandoned, forcing me to restart the entire process. Clients should ensure that fee terms, withdrawal procedures, and docketing responsibilities are clearly defined in writing. Continuity and accountability matter. I am writing this review based on my experience working with Charles Vethan as legal counsel in a matter that directly affected my family’s financial interests. Initially, communication and guidance were clear, and I believed our concerns were being taken seriously. However, over time, there was a... noticeable shift in both responsiveness and approach. Communication became inconsistent, and important questions went unanswered or were addressed only after repeated follow ups. As disagreements arose regarding strategy and next steps, the tone of the representation changed. Positions that had previously been discussed shifted, and pressure was applied to proceed in ways that I did not believe were fully explained or aligned with our understanding of the situation. Ultimately, the attorney withdrew from the matter at a critical stage. This left us in a difficult position and required us to seek assistance elsewhere in order to protect our interests. The timing and manner of the withdrawal were particularly concerning, given the complexity and stakes involved. As a client, we expected consistent advocacy, transparency, and stability throughout the representation. Based on my experience, I did not feel adequately supported once disagreements emerged, and the change in approach was both unexpected and disruptive.
