I DO NOT RECOMMEND ALICIA V. GARCIA!
She took over $2,000.00 to file my divorce. After I paid her all the money, in full, prior to her doing any work on my case. She did nothing but put me off, cancel appts at the last minute, left me to fend for myself. She promised to work on my case and make sure I received what is fair and promised ...to make sure justice would be served. Broken promises and nothing but lies! I found out later that she sold me out! I told her my ex husband and his best friend run a scam business and ripped off over 500 people and their companies in which I had nothing to do with, but wanted her to make sure they would not involve me in their ongoing lawsuits filed against them for their scams. I handed over the documents proving this. She said she would, yet, she did absolutely nothing. She promised to keep me informed regarding my divorce. I hardly heard from her. I had to write emails continously to remind her of things she said she would do. She wouldn't answer her phone when I'd call. Her voice mail was always full which prevented me from leaving any messages. She kept trying to withdraw from my case over and over after she was paid in full! She promised we'd meet prior to mediaiton to prepare me. She canceled at the last minute. I sent her a list of questions concerning mediation. She didn't even attempt to answer any of them. I appeared for mediation unprepared and was totally unaware of what I was about to face. It was the most difficult and stressful event of my life! During mediation she just sat there. She wouldn't say a word nor advise me of anything. I'd ask her something, she had nothing to say. The mediator drilled me for hours then placed a paper in my face telling me I had to sign. After being drilled for almost 5 hours, I was wore out mentally, emotionally and phsyically. Later I found I had every right to ask for a new mediator/mediation setting and walk out of there if I wasn't being heard, etc. Alicia allowed the opposing attorney to file a fraudulent restraining order without my knowledge and for no reason at all. After seeing Alicia hadn't done squat on my case I figured I had to do my own reasearching/work. I asked Alicia to have the restraining order removed a dozen times, yet, she wouldn't give me a straight answer and never did anyting about it. She even allowed the other attorney to blatantly lie and accuse me before the judge without any proof. Not once did Alicia interject or stop her. Luckily I brought my own documents and showed the judge. The opposing lawyer became furious and eyeballed me with dirty looks up and down for what seemed and entire 10 minutes and thought she might go ghetto on me right after. What did Alicia do during all this? She had her back to me and never said a word. BIG MISTAKE I MADE! I should have gone with the first attorney I found. Folks, save your money and keep looking for a lawyer that will at least work for your hard earned money instead of throwing it away on this one.
