Hummm... Where to begin? So I needed a Divorce Attorney. I selected, Dannielle Simms, from the Law office of Dennis M. Slate's law firm. My initial phone conversation was with Dennis Slate, and he assured me that everyone in the office would work with me on my case... This happened. He and anot...her attorney showed up to court at different times. The legal secretary was "johnny-on-the-spot" anytime I need quick answers or was dropping off or picking up documents. The paralegal, when Dannielle was not available, always knew the answers regarding my case. Now, Dannielle Simms, wow... Just wow... From our very first meeting she was able to take an emotional subject (my divorce), give comfort, listen, and clearly lay out what I could expect from having her, Dannielle, representing me. There were many times during the court appearances that she correctly explained the temperament of the judge and how the judge would rule. She kept me calm and let me know each step of the process. When I had my "red lines" (there were certain things I was not willing to give up) Dannielle was able to put it into legal language that was then granted by the court or the apposing counsel got my ex-wife to agree. I could not have been able to do this without Dannielle's legal expertise. When needed, Dannielle was aggressive in protecting my interest. There was never a time when I felt she was not doing everything legally possible on my behalf. I have even recommend Danielle's services to other friends that need good legal council. I would never wish that anyone would need Ms. Simms' legal services, but if anyone does, they would not be wrong in choosing a well qualified and competent attorney that is Dannielle Simms.

I would HIGHLY recommend Mr. Slate to anyone. I came to Mr. Dennis Slate with a challenge that seemed impossible. Mr. Slate asked several questions and educated me on the law. After our conversation Mr. Slate and Ms. Dannielle Simms went into action. It was a relief to be able to place my situ...ation in capable hands. Ms. Simms was always available to answer my questions and provide updates on my case. Her caring and reassurances were greatly appreciated in my times of concern. At trial time I sat back and let Mr. Slate work the law. It was a nothing less than amazing to watch Mr. Slate in action. To say it went well is an understatement. Mr. Slate used his knowledge of the law to expose the truth to the court. I walked out of the courthouse with a huge smile on my face. I would also like to acknowledge the helpfulness of Ms. Dalia Benitez. Ms. Benitez was always there to answer questions, receive documents, and forward messages.

Exceptional Care &Attention Dennis was my adopted children’s attorney; he was not my attorney but he acted as if he was in every way (except in court that is) at every opportunity. When I called to set up the date &time for him to come do his home visit, Dennis was available &arrived within a week. ...He came in jeans, a tee shirt &tennis shoes. He allowed the two year old to play with his pen &paper all the while asking the necessary &difficult questions, observing us &doing his home inspection. At the final adoption hearing date, he played with the same child, watching movies on his own cell phone with her while I chased the one year old. My attorney sat idly by mostly ignoring us. He &his staff always answered the phone, returned calls, answered emails in a timely manner which helps with the stress of the case. He truly showed sincere care for the whole family &correct &complete resolution of the adoption during &after the trial. Exceptional Knowledge &Assertiveness Adoption, even private family, ones have many legal technical aspects that can entrap a family &create unneeded litigation, problems &expenses later to unravel. Most of the detailed &serious legal issues in my case were explained to me, not by my hired counsel but by Dennis or his staff. He was not afraid to approach me to make sure that certain things that have procedural requirements under the law were done to protect the entire family. Issues such as name change requests, obtaining a certified copy of the signed order before sealing &other very important issues were never discussed or acted on by my attorney until I notified her after being advised by Dennis. I had to do much of my own paralegal work to keep the documentation flowing into my attorney’s office because it was not being done by my attorney. Despite that, the documents would linger for weeks &sometimes months at my attorney’s office before being filed with the court after enough begging on my part or getting close to another court date which often was dependent on the documents filed. This was business as normal for my attorney for my case. How long does it take to e file a document you received electronically? After the trial for termination of parental rights &granting of adoption, it was Dennis who prepared the final order of termination &adoption, got it to me after he signed it, within 2 days of the trial not my attorney as directed by the judge. I got it to my attorney the next day with our signatures &her office never filed it causing yet another delay. My attorney simply said her office did nothing wrong just because things didn't move in my timeline... Final Words The list can go on &on about what Dennis did, helped to get done &what my hired attorney did not do but I will not bore you with that list. I cannot impress upon anyone to do their internet research on any attorney &carefully consider the majority of opinions stated in reviews of that attorney for times in life when it matters the most BEFORE YOU H&OVER YOUR MONEY. You must be your own best advocate in how you spend your precious family resources &to whom you entrust your serious family issues to. I had to pay my attorney a large non-refundable retainer up front for all of this… My attorney has gone on to other review sites &she said some didn't follow her advice. The thing is you have to know the technical issues, you have to answer calls, emails &discuss things in order to give advice. On the other hand, Dennis went far &above in knowledge, assertiveness, attention &care. He is very personable, approachable, &funny kind of man. I will keep his information for many years &pass it out with zeal. Don't be afraid to challenge, prompt &question if things don't seem right because they just may not be. There are wolves in sheep's clothes advertising &inflating the level of service they claim they will provide. I fell victim to one of them but Dennis prevented a catastrophe.
