I got myself into a really bad spot, and it looked like my road was going to end in spending some time in the State Prison. I was devastated, scared, mortified, every bad feeling rolled into one. I was what I felt "a good person who made a mistake" so prison blew my mind. My stress level was out of t...his world. I hired an attorney prior to my first court date and he was great, but, he advised me that David Cunningham could work my case beyond what he was comfortable with. If you are unfamiliar with the program, it is THE BEST outcome I could have asked for besides outright dismissal. To give a short summary of the program, the court basically puts your case on pause. They give you a short list of conditions to follow, and if you complete these conditions within a set period of time your case is DISMISSED. That's right, no conviction. No felony. Clean slate, like it never happened. I was floored to receive this opportunity because it truly is a second chance. And as much as I love the first attorney I hired, I don't think this would have happened without David Cunningham. Even now that I'm on this program, he still keeps eyes my case and we still keep in touch. If you're scared, nervous, or anxious, David will put you at ease. I would recommend him to any friend of mine that gets into trouble in the future. Oh, and did I mention David doesn't even live in the same city as me? My court is about an hour away from his practice and he never missed a court date, never came in late. He is more than I could have ever expected or wished for from an attorney. He actually cared about me, and the outcome that paved the way for my future. He is so hard working, and will put everything he has into getting you the best result. I am a full time teacher in a charter school in Houston, Texas. I was falsely accused of “inappropriately touching” one of my students. This was one of the scariest moments of my life. As a drove to meet with school administration about the accusations, I called my friends and family to find me a lawyer. Attorney David Cunningham was the most highly recommended. As I was driving to the meeting, I called David’s office. David returned my call so quickly that I had legal advice before going into the meeting, less than 1 hour after learning about the accusation. I cannot stress enough how Mr. Cunningham’s sense of urgency with my case helped me through that incredibly shocking and stressful situation. David advised me not to talk to police without his presence, to record the meeting, and to stay calm while cooperating with the school investigation. During our appointment David prepared me for a second meeting with school administration. We rehearsed making an opening statement and responding to certain questions. The next day (Wednesday), I had the second meeting with school administration which would determine the direction of the case and any legal action. During this time, David was on-call so to speak. He made sure that he could attend the meeting if needed. David also texted me and encouraged me all morning until I had my meeting. I never expected such personalized and caring treatment by my attorney, but I am glad I got it, because it made a world of difference. Luckily, during the meeting it was determined that the accusations were false. Thus they were dismissed and no legal action was needed. Immediately following the meeting, David called me and congratulated me personally.
