Retainer completely non-refundable
Paid retainer, visited to go over plans. He didn't read any material in advance and his planned direction was counter to my request. I went elsewhere. Retainer lost. Non-refundable retainers are considered unethical; research this. 4 hours work would be a stretch. I do not recommend.
