Mary Elizabeth Van Orman

I hired Mary to represent me in my divorce from my abusive husband. She is truly brilliant, quick on her feet, aggressive in her pursuit of justice for you and your children. She will work hard to protect you. She is a mother that understands the issues and all the emotional turmoil that divorce brings for you and for your children. Mary is at home in the court room. She does not back down. I am forever grateful for her and Jayna’s dedication and hard work on my protective order case. Mary is the only attorney that I would refer friends or family to.

Mary is a very good lawyer, I have never had somebody so tough be on my side always. Granted she is very busy but the one thing that I've always noticed is she knows exactly which case she's on at which time no matter if she has to go to a different courtroom or not her memory is amazing. Even through hardships in her own life she sticks her neck out for those who can't do it themselves. Although she is expensive it is well worth the money in time she spends for me. I would have never have gotten this far without her integrity and guidance and support. She's the best thing that was put in my path and I would not change it for the world. She has been there every step of the way and has told me what it is that we are going to do and how it's going to get done. Though sometimes things don't always go as planned when we need them to she's always doing her job so that I can keep mine.

May take awhile but the end results were very good for my son. She does not mince words. Very knowledgeable regarding family law.

Mary and her assistant are both knowledgeable and competent. They guided me through a very trying time in my life and got me a custody arrangement I was happy with and a fair settlement despite the fact that it was really a messy divorce and mediation failed.

Mary gets the job done. Understand though--Mary is very busy. Mary may not get back to you right away. Mary is expensive. Mary will tell you if what you are looking for is feasible or even in the best interest of your children. She pulls no punches to you or the opposition. I like that. The best part of working with Mary though is watching all the other attorneys (mediation or wherever) kiss up to her because they want to stay on her good side. Seriously. And every one of them at some point pulled me aside and congratulated me on hiring the best. I will reiterate one more time. I spent over two years, close to $40K and went through 3 attorneys until I found Mary. It was an act of God, and a huge blessing that I saw her in vestibule at the Montgomery county court house during the trial of the woman that killed my oldest son by way of a DWI wreck. I witnessed Mary handing another attorney his proverbial a**, along with the client, and right away, I knew I had to retain her. I was scheduled for a mediation the next day with my ex-wife (yes, I AM a single father) but upon our lunch meeting a bit later that day, Mary insisted that, because of my grief and the ongoing trial, that there was no way I was to be at that mediation. She made phone calls to the appropriate people, and just like that, the mediation for my youngest son was put on hold, much to the dismay of my ex and her attorney! At this point, Mary hadn't asked me for a dime. On that note, Mary stayed with me and my family throughout the trial, which only assured me that, not only did I hire the best and brightest, but an attorney with an actual heart! How many attorneys would do that for a client? The next time we were in court, Mary made sure that my youngest son would not have to see his birth mother throughout the time we were in litigation (this was a huge boost for my son!). Upon the rescheduled mediation, my ex relinquished her rights to my son, and he has never been more well-adjusted, and more self-assured since having to be subjected to his birth mother (she had disappeared from his life years before, and my other two attorneys hadn't been able to get my son any reprieve). I'll say this about Mary; she is a bit more expensive than most family lawyers, but my son is worth every dime. She is also Board Certified specifically in family law, which is also worth the price. Most attorneys in this field also handle criminal cases, or other matters that don't necessarily carry a specialization. For these and other reasons, I highly recommend Mary Van Orman, and have referred several others to her. The title for this review is simple: Everyone has heard the term "Bringing the big guns"; I don't. I bring the "Nuclear Arsenal", which is exactly what anyone would want to have going into difficult situations where family law is concerned.
