He took my money and ghosted me. Him not knowing I would show up to court via Zoom. He arrived in person to court, and I cringed as I heard him say, he has not had any contact taxt with me. I had been trying to contact him the whole while. I lost my case to child custody. Paid him additional money f...or battle with back child support lost that case too. Don't Hire this guy.

John only responds until you pay. After he takes your payment he ghost you and will not answer phone calls or text. You literally have to go his office and hope to catch him there. He's old and needs to retire. He's not stable in mind to fight in court. I hired the guy to do a simple agreed divorce... between my ex wife and I. I get a terrible phone call from John acting like I need to come in his office immediately for my divorce case during my birthday trip to Hawaii. He said it was very bad and I was getting sued. Talk about ruining a good trip. I returned back to Houston and arrived at his office only to find out John had me divorcing the wrong woman I never heard of. So my case was never filed that I've paid months prior. like I say I had no clue because you don't hear from him once you hire him. I also hired him during the same time to handle a custody dispute in which I paid him an additional $2,500 to represent me and he did not show to court . I called for months to consult with him about the case, sent messages 2 weeks before, the week of, day prior and no response. I had to stay up 2 night prior and read and organize anything I had to represent myself. I saw John on the elevator the morning of my case and told him we are due in court at 9 for docket call and ask him why he ghost me and ignored my calls and messages, he then speed off and said he didn't even know who I was. I followed him anyway and showed him where he was on docket call representing me and he even pulled it up on his device. He then tells me to go answer docket call and still never showed up. You all that's reading this have to believe me and the other reviews where reviews can be read. We all have the same complaints. You will be disappointed. PLEASE SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND HIRE SOMEONE ELSE.

Decades ago, John McDermott represented my wife (and me, I guess) in an uncontested divorce with child custody. The wife and I had already worked what we wanted done. Across John's desk we laid out what we wanted and he "made it happen." No fuss. No crazy fees. EZ PeeZee. Now, 21 years later, I'm ...ready to collect Social Security and the Fed office wants a copy of the divorce. I've gone through every box of old papers both I and the ex-wife have and can't find it. So I called John. He told me it was my choice. Although he could copy and email me one for $75, he recommended, if I had the time, to save some money and get a copy from Harris county. That's the sort of thing a normal person (vs. a lawyer) would do.

This summer I showed up to pre trial without a lawyer and lost temporary custody of my child. After months of searching for an affordable lawyer my boyfriend found John. His rate was at least $1000 lower than any other attorney I contacted. Throughout trial John was very professionally and he fought ...hard for me to regain custody of my son and we won!!! If you're have legal family issues John McDermott is your guy!

I am a young mother with a small child. My husband abused me and threw me out of our house. I ended up getting custody of my three-year-old, good child support and my husband had to pay me 60% of his savings account.
