A Profound Disconnect Between Pro-Woman Branding and My Experiencr

I would urge women, particularly survivors of domestic or gender-based violence, to exercise significant caution before retaining this firm. This practice markets itself toward women and families and advertises divorce, custody, and CPS representation, including the statement, “You hate your ex? W...e do too.” I staunchly disagree with that mindset. It is not child-focused, and hatred of another parent should never be the organizing principle of a custody case. I do not hate my ex. I never wanted an attorney to hate him for me. I wanted competent advocacy, for the evidence to be heard, and for my children to be safe. My experience with the lead attorney was profoundly inconsistent with the advocacy this firm now markets. I retained her while trying to protect my daughters from violence. During my 2024 custody litigation, I had paid approximately $15,000 for an abuse expert. My expert and critical evidence were eliminated following an ex parte proceeding that was not placed on the record. I did not experience my attorney as meaningfully fighting to preserve that evidence or expert testimony. I was also deeply disturbed by how my own sexual victimization was handled. My sexual assaults, including being drugged by a man who later sexually assaulted me, were used to attack my character despite having nothing to do with my parenting ability. My attorney did not meaningfully advocate to prevent my victimization from being weaponized against me. I believe counsel should have aggressively explored every available evidentiary protection, including applicable rape-shield protections, rather than allowing sexual violence against a woman to become ammunition for attacking her as a mother. After losing custody, I filed a grievance and fee dispute concerning my representation. Rather than addressing the failures I identified, my attorney used opposing counsel’s unsupported narrative that I was an abuser to discredit my complaint. In my view, she knowingly relied upon the opposing side’s characterization of me to undermine my credibility and defend her own conduct. This was particularly troubling because my complaint concerned her representation. Attacking my character did not answer those concerns. Instead, it reproduced a familiar dynamic: shift attention away from the conduct being challenged, discredit the woman raising it, and thereby evade accountability. I later received information raising additional serious concerns about confidentiality, including reports that opposing counsel’s narrative about me was repeated outside the litigation and that people unrelated to my case had access to information from my file. I have retained documentation relevant to these concerns. Most painfully, the violence in the other household that I had been trying to bring to the court’s attention did not disappear after I lost my daughters. Subsequent domestic violence involving that household, including an arrest related to family violence, has since become public record. I gave my former attorney an opportunity to address what happened and the ethical concerns I raised. To date, I do not believe she has meaningfully acknowledged or attempted to remedy them. I cannot reconcile my experience with a firm presenting itself as a champion for women. There is something profoundly troubling about marketing a practice this way while a client’s sexual victimization was permitted to become a character attack against her, followed by another character attack when she complained about her representation. Based on my experience, women, especially survivors, should ask very careful questions about how this firm will protect their evidence, confidentiality, history of victimization, and right to raise concerns without being discredited for doing so.

Amazing Attorney

I was so greatful to finally get an attorney that was willing to help fight for me and not just roll over and give my ex what she wanted to make the case go away. Ms.Kaye was absolutely amazing at what she does and stood her ground when it was need and flat called the other parties out when not doing... what they were supposed to. If you need an amazing attorney and staff, Lighthouse is worth every bit of the cost and it does not matter if male or female they fight for your rights and truly what is best for the child and your interest. Ms. Kaye was more then willing on numerous occasions to go above and beyond I am sure the normal everyday attorney client standards to get things done and keep me updated. THANK YOU Ms. KAYE you were amazing.

Fierce, and passionate ally!

Kristin was my divorce attorney after my initial consultation. I love how she was very caring and hand-holding, as she listened to my concerns regarding my divorce, especially regarding my children, often through my anxiety and tears. Then she turned that caring friend nature, and turned it into a fi...erceness that she applied throughout my divorce, against the opposing party and counsel. I admire how she fought passionately for my children, and our living situation. I am beyond grateful for her help, knowledge, kindness, and couldn't have asked for a better outcome! My children and I thank you, Kristin!

"Kristin is fierce advocate for her clients. Having worked with her as co-counsel and as a fellow member of the legal community I know for a fact that there are few attorneys that would fight as hard as Kristin would for a cause she feels is just and right. When Kristin takes on a case, she takes it on to the end and she will not back down. Her ability to get straight to the heart of the matter is invaluable when it comes to client communication, and she is definitely not afraid to tell the court what they need to know to make the proper decisions in a case."
