Not Professional

Paid and had face to face with myself and child over a custody case. His clerk had the appointment time incorrect (he even noted her lack of punctuality in regard to times and dates.) Asked questions but did not get the feeling He explained enough. Spoke about securing a TRO and we left his office.... Weeks later and his secretary informs of a Conflict of Interest and how the "new system" didn't flag the opposite party from 2022. He then stated he now "kinda" recalled her face. Would not refund any money used in a case he should not have even started. Still waiting for a refund check of the rest of the retainer he didnt use.

Against Fathers with Disabilities

Wouldn’t even negotiate wants to ensure the crooked county he works in is able to do what they may. In my opinion, A real piece of work!! Don’t waste your time! All about the money and defends unstable mothers to make sure the state continues care and collects from hard working American Fathers!!

No intentions of working with me & Wasted my time

I paid for a consult with Mr. Moss, and he didn't even have genuine intentions of working with me. He could have just said that and not taken my money. His paralegal told me right away that she would file an appeal when she received the paperwork because James was on vacay. I never heard back from he...r after calling... I won't go into detail about all of the shady redflags I had during the consult - just that he made me feel like I was in the wrong, when actually, with proof, I'm 100% innocent. The plan he had for my case also would have sabotaged another case I'm involved in. He wanted me to pay his retainer without seeing a contract first because "that's how we do things here". Okay man. Never received a contract after that. I'd say thanks for nothing, but you are reassuring me that Gainesville is full of corruption. So thanks James for the reminder!

One honest lawyer!

I highly recommend James Moss if you have a legal issue that you need an honest opinion about. I called Mr. Moss about suing a guy who had taken a piece of towing equipment to sell on consignment for us and had not paid up. Mr. Moss informed me that we had a good case and that we would probably win i...t. I told him that I was concerned that even if we won the case, we might never get any money out of it. I said that I was worried about throwing good money after bad and that I didn't want to proceed unless there was a high probability that we would actually get what was due us. Mr. Moss could have encouraged me to go through with it, since he would make his fee either way. However, he was very honest with me and told me that there was a good chance that we would never get a cent even if we won. Of course, I was disappointed that the answer wasn't more positive. In the end, I decided not to pursue the matter through the courts. But I cannot praise Mr. Moss' honesty and integrity highly enough!

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"I have known James Moss for several years when he was a prosecutor. During his time as a prosecutor I knew he would always be prepared and ready for trial. Since James has entered private practice I have associated him on several cases. James' work has been top notch. James is responsive to clients and he gets creative to obtain the right result. Simply put, James is a superb book lawyer as well as a trial lawyer. I would not hesitate referring a case to James Moss. I am proud to endorse this lawyer."
