Intellectual Property 69%

I have extensive experience in copyright infringement litigation regarding online and offline situations and I am currently admitted to five federal jurisdictions in three states. Past cases/disputes/arbitrations have covered infringement of photographs, motion pictures (physical and online), music, toys counterfeiting and graphic arts. I have handled some patent and trademark litigation and have successfully prosecuted domain name seizures through the UDRP.

Entertainment 10%

In the course of representing photographers, film makers, artists and musicians in litigation I have also had occasion to draft various contracts, releases, non-disclosure agreements, licensing agreements and terms of service related to the entertainment industry. This is the smaller part of my practice, but over the last several years I have read through or drafted dozens of entertainment-related contracts and feel completely competent to handle these matters.

After practicing Texas Family Law through the Law Clinic of Texas Wesleyan I found that I had acquired the skills necessary to handle divorces, custody and child support disputes at a minimum. After agreeing to a series of requests from various friends and acquaintances, I have now handled several such cases and would like to do more.

Criminal Defense 5%

Thus far my criminal law experience is limited to a handful of traffic and alcohol infractions with quite positive results. Although this is not my primary area of practice, I would certainly like to take on more criminal cases.

Landlord or Tenant 5%

This is another area of practice that I do not advertise but find myself repeatedly answering questions about. Most recently I had another opportunity to handle a case regarding an unlawfully withheld security deposit from a Denton, TX rental property. I sent a single letter and the entire deposit was immediately returned.

Because I am already admitted to multiple federal courts [for copyright lawsuits] I am occasionally engaged to handle bankruptcy filings. If you are in need of such help, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Great help with dispute with landlord over wrongfully withheld deposit...

I hired Mr. Stone off the recommendation from a friend. In the process of trying to recover my wrongfully withheld security deposit from my former landlord, I was countersued and subsequently lost in small claims court. After Mr. Stone reviewed my case, he gathered evidence in my favor through variou...s legal routes that I would have been unable to myself. We then filed an appeal which was heard in a higher court. My landlord settled days before the trial and dropped his countersuit. Additionally, he returned my full security deposit and paid all my lawyer fees, including other accrued charges in the legal process. Mr. Stone put a tremendous amount of effort and time into my case and I would trust him with any other legal issues that would require an honest, experienced lawyer.

Helped with child support/custody case

This was Evan's first family law case out of school, but he came prepared. He served more as a mediator than a tool of aggression, which worked out well since the other party didn't have a lawyer and I wanted to solve the disputes amicably and knowledgeably. Evan was very helpful and professional and... helped us come to thorough resolutions. He has also been diligent about maintaining my case since it was opened 2 years ago.

Puts Legalese into everyday language like it's nothing.

Out of all of the Lawyers I've worked with, Evan Stone was the best at making me feel comfortable and clued-in. Other attorneys keep their eyes on the clock, answer your questions as concisely (and cryptically) as possible, and leave you in the dark as to exactly what they are doing to help you and ...why. Evan Stone is the opposite. He kept me up to date with every aspect of my case, took his time to make sure that I understood and was comfortable with every step and spoke to me like I was a human being. I will definitely seek out his services if (knock on wood) I shall ever need them again. He's done work for several of my friends in the realms of copyrights as well. They describe him as tireless and relentless, which is exactly what I'd imagine you'd want a lawyer to be when defending your intellectual rights.

Friendly, Empathetic, Reasonable, Knowledgeable, Informative, EXCELLENT ATTORNEY!

This was my first experience working with a lawyer for a specific case. The harassment he is investigating stopped immediately once he got on the case and got to work. He was able to investigate and help me identify the perpetrator. He is still assisting me with an ongoing case. He's extremely thoro...ugh and knowledgeable with regard to our options, my rights, and the laws. He's also extremely informative and agressive when working on your behalf. He's the only lawyer I would ever want on my case!

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
