Do not hire!

I initially consulted with an attorney at this firm who seemed knowledgeable and genuinely interested in the direction of my case. I felt hopeful after that first meeting. However, everything changed once I officially hired the firm and was assigned to Sarah Robbins. From the beginning, my concerns ...particularly regarding the safety and well-being of my children and my ex-husband’s mental health were completely dismissed. Sarah never took the time to speak with me directly before making assumptions about my case, and it was clear she had not taken the time to understand the context of the information I provided. I was told they wanted to “play the long game,” completely ignoring the urgency of my situation, despite me having the children for over six months in both of the past two years, the presence of multiple CPS reports, and credible concerns regarding my ex-husband’s suicidal behavior, Sexual, emotional and physical abuse. This “long game” put my entire case a risk of being out in the exact same position. Even worse, I was told, “Oh, y’all must make a lot of false CPS reports,” which was not only inappropriate and unprofessional but also a blatant indication that my case was being judged based on assumptions, not facts. To make matters worse, I was charged for an”amended De Novo filing” something that I had already filed myself before even hiring them. When I brought the De Novo up to Sarah directly, she told me there was no grounds for a De Novo proving that they not only billed me for something unnecessary, but didn’t even understand what had already been done in my case, not only that to top it off Sarah told me that an “amended De Novo” could not even be drafted due to time constraints on that type of hearing, leading to distrust and dishonesty of the firm. In less than two weeks, they somehow managed to burn through $2,350 of my retainer while doing nothing of substance. They never filed an appearance, made no calls on my behalf, sent no meaningful emails, and didn’t even take the time to understand what I needed. They even drafted documents without discussing anything with me, then told me I didn’t have grounds for the very motion they had drafted which makes absolutely no sense. Their billing practices are dishonest. I was charged for writing “done” in a text for completing a document, charged to make a calendar appointment, and billed for work that was never reviewed or discussed with me. At minimum, these practices are unethical, and I believe they are grounds for a truthful refund of my retainer. I have since fired this firm and I’m far from the only person who has had this experience. I’ve since heard multiple complaints about Sarah Robbins in particular, and after my experience, I believe them. Read the reviews for yourself or use word of mouth! Do not hire this firm. They are unprofessional and dismissive of critical issues especially those involving child safety. I am deeply unhappy with how I was treated and strongly caution others from making the same mistake I did.

Highly Recommended on All Levels

With all the emotions of a custody case the last thing I needed was problems or concerns with my own attorney. I was disgruntle from past experiences and hesitant but took a chance and couldn't be happier with the decision. From the beginning, the Law Office Of Mark M. Childress has taken care of me ...and adjusted to meet my needs. From financials, being responsive, fighting for what I feel is right and shooting me straight so I had no false expectations, this Law Office and it's staff have been there for me. I represented myself at first, didn't sleep for weeks and was on the verge of loosing my case without knowing. I couldn't be thankful enough for them stepping in and not just stopping but reversing what was about to happen just in time I highly recommend them and will continue to utilize their services in the future if needed.
