I am a proud native Texan whose family dry land farmed the caprock north of Lubbock during the Great Depression. After graduating from law school in Oklahoma City, I returned to Texas where I became a state licensed attorney in 1990. To this day I have maintained my practice almost exclusively within the Tarrant County community.
I first hung out my shingle in the historic Live Stock Exchange Building of the Fort Worth stockyards. It was there that I gained a knowledge and appreciation of the city’s colorful history. The motto, “where the west begins,” says it all. Today I fondly remember those early days because of the relationships I forged with other attorneys and the businessmen and businesswomen who worked out of the Exchange building.
Prior to attending law school, I served my country for three years as a medic in United States Army. Upon completing training at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, I was stationed at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso as an emergency room technician and an ambulance driver.
The experience I gained as a young man proved invaluable in setting the course and direction of my legal career. Through two decades of practice I have handled a wide variety of legal matters including criminal defense, personal injury, wills and probate, family and elder law, and debtor-creditor litigation. However, I have always maintained a special passion for working with clients whose cases involve challenging medical circumstances including mental and physical disorders and illnesses which affect their quality of life and often the ability to provide for themselves and their families. It has been my pleasure and privilege to now focus my practice almost exclusively within disability law matters.
What serves as a source of pride and a guiding philosophy in my work is that I am able to provide individuals with the peace of mind that their voice and their unique circumstances are given fair representation before the law. You can count on me to stand up for your rights and your best interests even when others seem to treat you just like another number and not a person.
