She has successfully brought four cases to the jury since 2011 winning at the trial and appellate level every time ( 13 finished and pending appeals). Her first solo trial set the current trend in business litigation to use criminal contempt as a strategic mechanism to obtain compliance in debt collection, post judgment discovery, and in highly litigious business disputes involving non-compete litigation and misappropriation of intellectually property litigation. In Ms. Gjesvold's criminal contempt case she tried two full criminal contempt trials within a business dispute case out of the 429th Tavis county district court. At the first trail she got an aquittal on 4 of 5 charges and the court imposed s 3 day sentence. In the second contempt she obtained 327 aquittals and her client was held in contempt on 24 charges sending her client to jail on a 125 day sentence. Believing she had done everything at the trial level to perfect appeal, she collateral attacked the judgment and incarceration with a habeas petition and emergency order to release on bond. Her client was released after 12 days and the 3rd circuit upheld Ms. Gjesvold ' s trial argument in a published westlaw opinion holding the argument she made was now the law regarding statutory interpretation of enforcing temporary injuctions. That case was cited and affirmed later by the 5th circuit. In her third jury trial in a multiclaim business dispute she obtained a partial defense verdict that went up on appeal from the 96th district court in tarrant county. The appellate court rendered a full defense verdict overturning the jury's decisions on each claim and awarded her client all attorneys fees and costs. That opinion was also published in westlaw and established new case law on several legal claims including breach of contract, formation of a contract, promissory reliance, fraud, piecing the corporate veil, and reasonableness of attorneys fees. The decision was upheld by the state supreme court and remains the most recent precedent in that area of law. She has completed 10 appeals at the state and federal levels and has won every appeal from her trial work in administrative proceedings, county court decisions, state the federal district court, the ndtx bankruptcy court, Texas supreme court, the 5th circuit and the United states supreme court. While clerk ing for the ndny federal district court, she drafted an appendi opinion which was upheld by the 2nd circuit court of appeals and published in westlaw. Jennifer helped me with a trial last week, and her assistance was invaluable in obtaining a directed verdict in our client's favor. She can think on her feet in court and has great insight into both juries and judges. I would recommend her to anyone.
