Needs better paralegals

Where do I start? In 2016, I was involved in an accident . Initially, I was with another law firm and they ended up pawning me off to the Stuckey Firm. I became a client and things seemed ok until I stopped getting updates on my case and my court date kept getting rescheduled. Then covid happened an...d of course that caused even further delay which is understandable . Back track to 2018, my case was filed with the courts and did not receive a court date until 2020. My court date was continuously rescheduled and I was not kept apprised of anything. I constantly had to check the court dockets myself and reach out to the paralegal. That leads me to my next issue- the paralegals. When a new paralegal was assigned( I dealt with three different paralegals) , I did not receive any type of correspondence until I sent out several emails. Yulissa who was the last paralegals I dealt with ( or whatever she is) was one of the most unprofessional people I’ve encountered. Her overall demeanor and the way she spoke to me as a client was awful. She could definitely benefit from some training on professionalism and client etiquette. Was it too much to ask for updates on my case? I was told I would receive a response by the end of this week or that week and I didn’t therefore I would call or email requesting updates. It took years for a settlement so I was definitely upset with the process but not once was I disrespectful. It took my spouse mentioning a grievance to get the ball rolling. I finally received a call from Yulissa that my settlement arrived, but the attorney was ill and I would hear back from her by the end of that week. Again, no response so I called and left a message. She called me this Tuesday and informed me my check was at a different location. Again, that was fine I was willing to drive to pick it up. She told I couldn’t pick it up there because the attorney was busy and she was rude, treating me as though I were a child …at this point any ounce of professionalism on her part was out the window. Based off that interaction, I decided I no longer wanted to interact with her and I reached out to the attorney directly who was in fact, NOT BUSY. So it appears as though she lied to me. Upon speaking with the actual Attorney, I was able to pick up the check with no problems THAT DAY . I was adamant about picking up because I’ve had issues with my mail in the past and I made Yulissa aware of that in various phone conversations. Horrible experience solely based off my interaction with Yulissa. Glad it’s over! I will definitely be filing a complaint with the paralegal division, if she’s a member! I did bring this to the attention of the attorney, but I’m sure it won’t be rectified thus the review.
