Kathleen Turton is a highly skilled family law mediator, negotiator, and advisor, with a focus on complex property and children's issues. She is a trained Parenting Coordinator, Parenting Facilitator, and Mediator. Her training and experience allow her to best help families as they work through the new choices they face.
Prior to forming her own firm, Kathleen served as Director of the W.W. Caruth, Jr. Child Advocacy Clinic at SMU Dedman School of Law in Dallas. In this position, Kathleen supervised and trained student attorneys to represent children as court-appointed Guardians and Attorneys ad Litem; provided continuing legal education to lawyers and social workers in the child welfare field; and hosted roundtable discussions with the aim of improving the lives of children in the foster care system.
Before joining SMU, Kathleen practiced family law and was an Adjunct Faculty Member at El Centro College in Dallas. Kathleen received a B.S. in Microbiology, with special honors, from the University of Texas, and worked for several years at the Texas Department of Health before attending law school. She received her law degree from SMU Dedman School of Law. She is a frequent speaker on family law and alternative dispute resolution issues.
