Dishonest and Disorganized

In 2026, I hired Mr. Newark for my divorce in Temple, Texas (Bell County). After working with him, my general impression of him is disorganized and dishonest, and – as of this writing – I am in the process of firing him as my counsel. I will describe the three most important instances which led me to... conclude he lacks competence and character starting with the most damaging. During the final hearing for my divorce, Mr. Newark handed me the property division schedule drafted by the other side, and asked me to mark items which I had objections to. I reviewed the first page of the document and marked the items I had objections to. As I was turning to the second page, Mr. Newark took the schedule from me. I asked him if I needed to review the rest of the document, and he said no. After the hearing, I learned that close to $50,000 of my separate property had been misclassified as community property, and that I had been awarded around $50,000 less in my divorce settlement as result. The misclassification occurred because Mr. Newark actively prevented me from reviewing the full property division schedule. Had I reviewed the entire schedule, I would have seen the misclassification of my property and objected. I can easily prove the property is separate, and I am confident the judge would have corrected the issue had I objected. Currently, I am attempting to fix this error myself. If I am unable fix the issue, Mr. Newark will be responsible for costing me close to $50,000. When I brought this problem to Mr. Newark’s attention, he refused to take accountability leading to me firing him. After starting the process of firing Mr. Newark, he failed to notify me about an important hearing. As a result, I did not attend the hearing, and several items I would have objected to during the hearing were approved. Mr Newark was aware that I would have objected to said items because I voiced my disagreement with him in conversations via text message. I can not say if my objections would or would not have been sustained, but I was, yet again, denied the opportunity to meaningfully participate in my case. Lastly, during a phone conversation, Mr. Newark made a verbal agreement with me that I could wait until my divorce was settled to pay him. He rescinded this agreement and demanded payment to continue working on my case. I should have known that a Dallas lawyer actively advertising in Temple, Texas was a red flag. I can only imagine why he had to look for business so far away from the Dallas Metroplex.

Poor experience

I wish I wouldn’t have went with the first lawyer I consulted. Rob Newark and his lousy assistant did not complete my bankruptcy on the date it was due. I lost the money I paid, my house, my car and other assets I wanted to protect. I do not recommend this lawyer.

Do Not Hire Robert Newark

I hired Robert to help save my dad's house. The first month was fine. But since then it has went down hill. I have called and emailed several times with no response. I have literally been told by his assistant that he will call me back about 7 different times and nothing. All I wanted to know was wha...t's going on with the case and if we still needed to retain his services for another month. He never got back to me. It was a poor experience. Seems like he takes on more cases than he can adequately handle. Or maybe he was just ignoring me. Either way I feel like I wasted $1000 with him. Find a lawyer who actually has time for you.

Amazing Attorney! Very quick and gets the job done :)

We hired Mr. Newark at a very time-sensitive period. He and his assistant, Jon, hopped on a plane to Texas to go to court on our behalf without hesitation. They have been very professional, responsive, and timely in all of their dealings with us. He set our very incompetent mortgage company straight ...and forced them to do the right thing. Working with Mr. Newark was very easy and we highly recommend him if you're in need of an attorney for a real estate matter. His experience and expertise shine through. Mr. Newark went above and beyond in handling our case and we are very grateful for his effort. He handled things after hours and on weekends to get our last minute requests done on time. He is very straightforward and honest. He is also great at explaining things so that you can understand. If we ever need a real estate attorney in the future, we'll hire Mr. Newark in a heartbeat. Thank you guys for all of your help! We wish you both well :)

Great team

We hired Rob a year ago to help save our home. We are still fighting our mortgage company, but things are looking great for us. Rob and his team are doing a great job fighting for us to keep our home.
